Weathered Wood Book Binding for PaperArtsy

I'm cutting it close but I managed to squeeze in another little handmade book for the current PaperArtsy topic #11.  I was inspired by THIS post by Ellie Knoll, where she used wood branches and found objects in her collage.  I had found this strip of wood and thought it would make a great binding.

I drilled two holes and attached the screws to hold my manila inky paper together.

My cover has white embossing, a shimmery butterfly and a bundle of thread.

It was hard to photograph the pages, but they are randomly inked and gessoed and stamped with a variety of PaperArtsy images.

I was surprised how far my stamp stash stretched with partial stamping of several of the images - fun!  I will definitely attempt making another book of this manner.

If you are interested in exploring more on making handmade books and mini albums, I hope you'll follow my new challenge blog, Mini Album Makers.  Have a great weekend!

Mmmm drilling.... I can't see hubby lending me his tools, I'm not to be trusted with anything too sharp in case my clumsiness takes over! I love your book though, and the inside pages are just pure stamping pleasure! Thanks for sharing us at Country View Challenges.

So very cool. I have a book similar to this style that has wood rulers in place of the wood or branches. I love that you used wood to bind. Very artsy! ;)
