I piled up several papers that sort of went together, then added some stencil paste through this awesome rose stencil. When I love how the paste picked up the ink sprays, but not the glossy papers. I added some UTEE over, that's the hint of sparkle you see in this pic.
I didn't have a stamp that suited my desired sentiment, so I decided to do some watercolor lettering. I've been following @randomolive on Instagram and ever single post she adds with her lovely brush style lettering gets my creative juices flowing. I plan on purchasing her practice guides (a great price of $27 for 45 days worth of practice with video tutorials, etc.) found on her site HERE.
A friend saved this cool packaging fill and I thought it would make a great layer, plus it gave a cool pattern to the paper beneath when I sprayed it.
I tucked in some vintage lace and added some gemstones. I saw on a YouTube video that you should layer both paper and fabric flowers when spraying because they each accept the inks differently, so I did that here and really loved the contrast. Click the photos to enlarge. All in all, I really enjoyed getting messy for this Oh So Blue challenge. We'd love to have you play along with us at Stamps and Stencils.

I've missed so much even since the new year, but I've so enjoyed the visit back to your blog. Your idea of taking the word "blue" and putting the emotional meaning to it was such a great idea. Your creation is so touching and thoughtful. I also had a blast perusing the posts I've missed. Can't wait to see what else you crank out for 2016.

Love all the luscious layers, textures and color of your card! You captured the challenge perfectly! Crafting always seems to take a stressful day and turn it into calmness...for me that is. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis really is fabulous - congratulations on your new DT position! Your take on the blues has made me smile! Thank you for joining us at Try It On Tuesday! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteAmber, I love that you've put your heart in to this challenge of blue, by displaying the chosen color as an emotion rather than the color in the tangible sense. Your card is awesome with all those textures, and I have a happy place in my heart for the packaging. A friend gave me some of her similar stuff, and I used the daylights out of it at Halloween. I was up in her attic the other day, and was eyeballing a bin of it she has stashed there! Tee Hee! Well done on the hand lettering! I'm afraid it wouldn't do for me; my handwriting is atrocious ! I probably need to take the course! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteLove how you have used lots of layers to get a wonderful effect. The use of packaging and other pieces is really close to my heart - love using something unexpected in my art too, and loving your brush style of lettering - it came out amazingly well, well done! Thanks for joining us on our first challenge - blue - at More Mixed Media Challenge. Michelle, DT xx

Hugs,
Nancy
