Hello lovelies! Today I am sharing a fun Valentine project with you, in hopes of getting your juices flowing for my favorite card making holiday!
I finally got some of the Tim Holtz dies that I have drooled over for the past couple of years. I'm always behind on getting the cool stuff because I'm too meditative when it comes to shopping. I want to buy investment pieces, products that I will love ten years from now. Ridiculous, I know, but I'm the most frugal person you will ever meet. :) This doily die has been on my wish list for some time and I am loving using it!!! Here I used it to cover the side of a half embossed panel. I tried embossing cardboard and loved it! Will definitely be doing this again. I removed the top plate from my Big Shot to make squeeze this through.
I wanted to be able to peel away the layers of cardboard, and reveal the corrugated inside. This piece of cardboard was white, which made it perfect for sponging Distress Inks over the embossed panel.
I made the flowers by gluing layers of small Prima flowers together. The sentiment is Penny Black.
These awesome hearts were scored off of a local CTMH dealer second hand. I clear embossed over the Fired Brick DI, then cut them out, distressed the edges, and sponged them lightly. I did some faux stitching with a BoBunny stamp set. Love it!
I'm sharing the love with the following challenges:
What a lovely card - I really like the distressed look and I love the background embossing - the foliage looks really lovely in the darker red. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog earlier, I hope you have a great week,
ReplyDeleteDiana #23
Love how you've used the weathered lace doily - I have that die and don't use it nearly often enough so thank you for the nudge. Fabulous rich red with the neutrals to soften the look - this is a beauty.

I think you are very disciplined & extremely wise to not make impulse purchases, (and you won't have so many NBUS like so many of us do). You will use the products in multiple ways, and not forget that you even have it! Good for you. I need lessons! Love this layered, beautifully designed card with the wonderful reds of Valentine. Love that it's paired with other colors & textures so it's not the usual "red, black or white" Valentine look. The embossing looks gorgeous with the doily, the flowers, the distressing, and so pretty with the particular shade of the embossed green cardbase. Great card! TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeleteThis Valentine is stunning Autumn! I love the gorgeous colors and all of the vintage touches!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Tammy

ReplyDeleteSo much lovely detail! I need to try embossing on cardboard. Love the little pearls in your flowers and the way the black pops on your sentiment.
ReplyDeleteGreat mix of wonderful elements, Autumn!!!! So beautifully and artistically put together!!!! The embossed cardboard is lovely and I love your new doily die - for sure a great buy!!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!!

Great card for Valentine's Day, Autumn! It doesn't surprise me that this is your favorite card making holiday--it shows in your gorgeous work here! I love all the textures, the amazing doily (seems like a very good investment piece to me!) and your clever idea to remove one of the plates to accomodate that thick cardboard. I love the look of corrugated board! and talk about frugal, I follow the girls around Hobby Lobby and ask if I can have their trash. There's always a bounty of corrugated board to be had there! Tee Hee! You may not be the most frugal crafter--sorry, but I think not! Well, maybe we could be tied! I used to do it because I liked to see what I could make from nothing, but now I do it out of necessity! Big hugs to you on your wonderful Valentine's Day card! Anyone who receives your artwork would certainly treasure it forever!
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous card Autumn, a fabulous vintage design and great details.
