Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 101 Tag Play

tags
I couldn't let the opportunity pass Tim Holtz's Summer of Creative Chemistry pass.  Though, I have joined in almost two weeks late.  I am committed to setting aside time in the evenings, after work, to working on these classes.  After all, the kids don't want to sleep and I'm staying up late anyway!  YIKES!  Anyway, though my tags are quite simple, I thought I would share.

One thing I am trying hard to do is break out of a monochromatic color palette when I mix inks.  That is so hard for me.

tags 3
I only have six sets of Tim's stamps and sadly the set I used in the background and for the text here actually decomposed!  I'm so sad because it had never been used, but the clear material just crumbled when I tried to remove it from my clear blocks.  So now I have FIVE sets.  LOL!  This is why I love red rubber!

tags 4
For this tag I didn't have the specialty stamping paper, but used Marco's matte coat paper.  I think the result is quite similar, though the yellow didn't resist, which you can't see anyway because of the vellum.

I really love the Distress stain stamping!  What a pretty, subtle resist. Thank you for looking and I hope to see you in the classroom!

  8. These are all gorgeous and I love the vibrant colours. I tend to end up with monochrome projects a lot of the time too, isn't it great when you find a good colour combo? :)
Sorry to hear about your disintegrating stamp set, how gutting.
    Hugs,

  9. What a cheery variety of colors on your pretty tags, and to me, they don't look simple at all! Sorry to hear about the stamp problem; perhaps you could let the company know, and it would be replaced? Some companies are very good about this kind of thing. You've got a mix of different looks with the techniques you've done on each tag, so it looks like you had tons of supplies. I applaud your discipline at doing this each night after a long day. Great looks too. TFS & Hugs

  12. Beautiful, but not simple looking at all! My favorite is the blue (of course!). Sorry to hear about your stamps--I had the same problem with some of the earlier acrylic Tim Holtz stamps. I did contact the company and they replaced them. Good for you taking the class. I would like to try that sometime. Big hugs to you!

  23. I had some clear stamps decompose too! I though they were bad quality, but perhaps that's just the nature of that material. I agree, you can't beat proper rubber! Love how colourful these tags are! They look great in a bunch!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Decompose? I did not know that was possible with clear stamps. I agree that rubber stamps are more hardy and more precise too. But love the clears becaus it's so easy to see where you stamp.
Think your tags with the different techniques are quite wonderful! You did a great job with them!

  25. What great tags in wonderful bright colours, Autumn!!! All so beautiful!!!! Decomposed stamps ..oh, boy, didn't know that that could happen ...don't think that will happen with the red rubber ones!!!! (maybe we should go back to the olden days!!!)
    Have a great day!!!

  32. Ummm, simple? Nope, not simple at all! Spectacular array of colors and stamps used. Terribly sorry to hear about the loss of the stamp set. Maybe let Ranger know and they can help somehow? You have really had fun with these designs and tags! Awesome sauce and fantabulous! Hugz to you muffin! ~Niki

  33. A Lovely collection of tags! Autumn. I can relate to the reason why you love red rubber having had similar experinces myself with clear.
Have fun with class- may see you aroound x

  34. Oh, it does all look such fun - I love that you've pushed your colour comfort zone boundaries here and the results are really pretty. I have some of the smaller clear TH stamps (as well as many, many rubber ones - let's not count, shall we?!) and some of those are definitely disintegrating. I think it's partly to do with sunlight and warmth where they're stored, but also it's just not as durable as the red rubber.

  38. Beautiful work, Autumn!! I am inspired to jump in, as I never really played along the first time! Your jump into color combos is fantastic - your eye is quite good, you know! Sorry to hear about the stamps, though - I've not heard of that before, but even more reason to stick to rubber which is most of what I own. Absolutely love your tag collection!! xxx Lynn

  39. Love your tags, Autumn! They are bright and cheery, simple but not simple-looking by any means. I hope to take these courses at some point, too. I'm sorry to hear about your stamps :-(

  42. Wow, Autumn!! What heavenly use of color!! Each and every tag is unique and exquisite. I'm not sure I can even choose a favorite. You mentioned one of your clear Tim stamp sets decomposed? I've never heard of this and now I'm a little terrified. I feel like I need to go through all my clear stamps and start testing them. I wonder if all clear stamps will do that in time. Sending hugs to you!! It's aplays a pleasure to see your art.
