Tim Holtz Die Cut Deer Card

I can hardly believe Christmas is upon us!  I've attempted a couple of Valentines, but still feel like we should have a few more weeks of Christmas.  Recently I found this lovely Basic Grey embossing folder for $2 at Tuesday morning and decided it was high time to do some dry embossing.  I have several folders, but have never used them much.  I layered with my handsome new deer.

Some simple sponging to highlight the pretty forest like embossing.  I made my own paper background by using a DIY Tim Holtz stencil cut from a die.  I sponged with cranberry ink and distressed the edges.  I cut the deer from chipboard and used Walnut Stain to color him.  I embossed the antlers for interest.

A simple bow and some embossed pine needles for embellishment.  So simple!  In fact, I made a pair.  Maybe this is my last card to share before the holidays, but at least I can use the design through the winter.

  3. autumn, this is a beautiful design, and you really should use your folders more frequently! I love that stenciled background--so cool you made your own with a die cut! That deer looks so regal with his embossed antlers and genius to repeat the embossing on the greenery. Gorgeous design all tied up with those festive shabby bows! So pretty! Sending you hugs!

  17. I love the simplicity of your card, Autumn. The background you created is perfect - I love cranberry for the holidays and it really sets off the inked embossed panel. The embossed antlers and pine needles are a beautiful touch. Love your deer - one can never have too many different deer or snowflakes for paper crafting, in my opinion - LOL! Of course, I love that big bow with jingle bell! Merry Christmas, my friend!

  22. Very natural and woodsy with the splendid high-stepping deer on the lovely embossing. (If we go to the same Tuesday Morning, you're getting some good scores. I seldom find anything worthwhile there any more!) You've showcased your background so nicely with the front elements, and of course - that gorgeous luscious bow. TFS & Merry Christmas.

  30. I'm the same with embossing folders - I use them far too little for the number I have! Love the look you've created here, and those sparkly antlers too. We do the full twelve days of Christmas, so our tree doesn't come down until 6th January... so I'm happy still to have plenty of Christmas left!
