I'm delighted to be a guest at Words 2 Craft By today. This challenge bases its themes off of inspirational quotes. This month we are inspired with a lovely prompt by Oscar Wilde, "Keep love in your heart. "
I was curious to test out my new Sizzix heart dies and cut out two batches from thin chipboard. I adhered them to my watercolor panels, then scraped on DecoArt crackle paste. I let this air dry until the next day.
I spritzed my panels with water, then sprayed with Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays in pale aqua and brown. I spritzed any hard edges with more water to fade.
I colored my hearts with Distress Crayons and smudged with a barely wet baby wipe. This is the first time I have been happy with the result using my crayons. I guess the key is 1. a primed surface and 2. barely wetting your smudging tool.
I went back in with a BoBunny music score, stamping randomly in Frayed Burlap. Finally, I added one of Tim's new chipboard sentiments, which I lightly inked to coordinate. This card isn't as frilly as my usual designs, but the texture speaks volumes in real life. I hope you like it and are inspired to play along in the W2CB challenge. Thanks Sybrina and the lovely DT for having me along!

Well, I for one, love this! That crackle paste looks awesome-- super authentic-looking aging! The colors are just so nice, too. Regarding Distress Crayons: I find that we are an "on-again, off-again" relationship... like, sometimes we make some sweet art together, and sometimes we ruin panels I've lovingly textured... LOL! Oh, Distress Crayons... well, Autumn, I adore what you've done here.
ReplyDeleteWonderful!!! LOVE all that crackle and texture!!!
ReplyDeleteOhhh fabulous Autumn - love that crackle medium and how you have used it.
