I was down to the wire with this one and really needed some inspiration, so I turned to the fun tag challenge at In My Creative Opinion. I was inspired by the amazing color combo from Day One in Lin Brandyberry's beautiful tag. I wanted a little more mixed media, so I also used THIS pin for inspiration. I was happy to use my Distress Oxide pads to create a set of cards in Lin's color combo. First I tapped my Cracked Pistachio pad on my craft mat and spritzed with water. I've had a lot of questions about this process. It's very simple and produces a vibrant effect. You dip the panel into the pooled ink repeatedly and heat set between layers until you are happy with the result.
I picked out some favorite winter stencils and opened up a new bottle of BoBunny glitter paste. I have never used this product before and was AMAZED by the result! Oh how I love this and will be using again and again. I had a die cut sentiment very similar to Lin's and used it at the bottom of my tag.
I used a purchased glittered snowflake, some die cut vellum leaves, a Prima marbled flower, bakers twine and a die cut deer head, which I embossed with transparent Psychedelic embossing powder. I love this powder!
Here's the full view. I added a loopy seam binding bow at the top.
Now to bring the pink into the mix. I repeated the process above with Worn Lipstick DOX.
EEK! I love how the silver glitter pops against the pink. :) I used the same elements and did a reverse of the first design. My Prima flower wasn't quite vibrant enough, so I painted it with a watery mix of the Worn Lipstick DOX. It looks orange in the photo, but not IRL.
I hope you're inspired to play along with our Pastels challenge at Stamps and Stencils! Perhaps you'll make a few simple tags with your stamps or stencils. :)
Just in case you need some more pastel inspiration, check out my Prima Sweet Peppermint hexagon mini album tutorial from yesterday HERE.

Wow! What a fabulous use of the oxides, Autumn. I love that you showed the technique - so people such as myself can have an "imprinting" of the photographs into their poor feeble minds! LOL BEAUTIFULLY textured - you always accomplish the most texture-laden creations! Thanks for the inspiration this morning! xx
ReplyDeleteI'm really intrigued by the glitter paste! Must get some to try - it seems to work really well. Some of these mediums, sadly, just don't work and should never have been manufactured (Pebeo texture gel comes to mind - what a mess!), so now I'm just going by personal recommendations instead of wasting my money! Love the Scandi feel in both of those patterns!
