It's time for a new challenge at Frilly & Funkie and our hostess Cec has chosen the theme Three Is Not A Crowd! She says, "Create a vintage or shabby chic project that includes three of something. Examples of three of something could be three different patterned papers, three colours, three layers, three flowers, three bows - the list goes on. This would be a perfect time to use some of the new supplies you received for Christmas or to make space in your stash by using up old supplies. Just remember to think in multiples of three."
I chose a go to design: 1. a background layer 2. a mat 3. an embellishment bundle. This is the perfect recipe for showing off your favorite handmade backgrounds. I also used a three-piece embellishment bundle of one flower, one bow and one (three layer) sentiment.
My background started similarly to THIS card, but I added many more layers, alternating between crackle paste, Distress Stains and gesso. When I was happy with the color, I stamped my cool new Seth Apter background stamp over the panel and added chunky platinum embossing powder, wiping it off everywhere except on the hearts. I used the same powder to emboss the edges of my mat. I finished with a Prima flower, a stained seam binding bow and a layered sentiment sticker. I don't know about you, but I'm CRAZY over embossing! I simply cannot wait to get my hands on Seth's new range of powders. You can preorder the set HERE for shipping mid January.
I hope you're inspired to play along with our challenge for a chance to win a $25 shopping spree at the Funkie Junkie Boutique. Find these and other incredible supplies in the shop.
