As we say farewell to February, we have a fun and exciting new challenge at Frilly and Funkie today. Our hostess Kathy has chosen the theme Get in on the Action. She says, "Adding an interactive element on a card, tag, layout or canvas adds a bit of fun to any project. For this challenge, create a vintage or shabby chic project that incorporates an interactive element of one sort or another in the design. You can add a pocket and tag, a hidden tag, a hinged page, a flap, a flip, a tuck spot, a special fold or any kind of interactive element that appeals to you. Be sure to tell us in your post what makes your project interactive, as it may or may not be apparent in a photo."
I turned to the Rose Quartz collection by Prima for my flip out card. The front has portions of the paper cut out and layered strategically to form an inspiring sentiment.
I layered Prima flowers with a couple of hearts cut from black glitterstock and a Tim Holtz doily.
I dyed my seam binding with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink and used it as a closure.
Which opens to reveal a few other inspiring sentiments. Here I layered the Mini Globe cut from Metallic Kraft Core with Tim's Quotations Metallic Stickers, another heart cutout, layers of lace, flowers, a fussy cut flower, and pom pom fringe.
To form the flap, I cut my panel and added 3/4" extra to the left, then scored at that mark. I cut a second panel to fit just inside of the score mark, then added Tim's tissue tape to conceal the seam.
For the final panel, I layered more Prima flowers with a doily died in Victorian Velvet. I cut the word Believe from Tim's Pondering Words dies and layered over Metallic Kraft Core.
I really love the touches of metallic on this project. The silver works perfectly with this color palette.
I hope you're inspired and will play along with our current challenge using your ideas for an interactive project. The possibilities are endless! One lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to the Funkie Junkie Boutique. Thanks for visiting today!
