Hello! Happy Wednesday! Today we begin a new challenge at Frilly and Funkie and our hostess Suzz has chosen the theme Knock on Wood. She says, "For this challenge you need to dig through your crafty stash and look for some type of wood to incorporate into your art. This can be any kind of wooden object like a wood spool, a wood button, a mini ruler or even a branch. Create a vintage or shabby chic project that incorporates some type of wood content.
I opted for a tall, skinny card with layers of paper from the Prima Wild and Free collection. You can see how I fussy cut the flowers, made a tag, and crinkled some of the layers for dimension. To adhere my lace, I applied Red Line tape then carefully scrunched the lace and pressed it in place. There is enough give to move it around, but it will also hold permanently when you finish.
Lots of layered lace, including a bottom paper lace piece cut from Tim's Crocheted Lace die.
I use my scissors to shred into the lace to get the tattered edges.
My focal image is the beautiful lady from the collage sheet in the Wild and Free A4 pad. My wooden element is an ornate frame I got on clearance in the Christmas crafts section. Beneath my layers of flowers I added a few snips of Holiday Greens die cut from kraft and painted with a watery gesso.
Beneath my Prima flowers, I added seam binding dyed with Frayed Burlap and a large button. I gave everything a splash of white gesso. I hope you're inspired by this frilly work and will play along with our current challenge, even if you make a funkie creation. :) One lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to the Funkie Junkie Boutique.
