Hello and happy Resurrection Sunday to you today! I am so thankful our Savior lives and promises us new life in Him. I hope you know, you are worth dying for and are loved beyond measure.
Today we begin a new challenge at Mini Album Makers. I've chosen to make a baby girl / feminine album with the Authentique Imagine collection. I used one 6x6 pad I got at Tuesday Morning for $3! I wanted to make for you an album that fulfilled these requirements.
Perfect for 6x6" paper pads
Easy to make/little waste
Easy to make/little waste
Flips and folds for interactive fun
No fail binding system
Appeals to traditional and mixed media album makers :)
Let me know if I've succeeded with these goals.
The photo cards tuck into the doilies and can be pulled out. I used a punch for the corners and will insert 4x4" photos and adhere to a coordinating mat.
These belly bands also allow for the photos to be removed.
All these birds and butterflies are from the Tim Holtz Botanical ephemera pack.
The 1/4" gutter in the binding allows for lots of embellishments.
I layered these Stampin' Up lacy borders for these pockets. This gorgeous die cut set was a RAK from my sweet friend Debbie Mageed of Secret Stamper. Thanks so much Debbie! <3
More flaps...
These pages will have circular photos inside.
The toggle brad opens for this flip out photo panel.
I created a cloth cover and made a closure with vintage pink velvet ribbon, which I glued beneath my embellishments.
For the page assembly, I cut 6 watercolor panels to 5 7/8 x 12" and scored at 5 7/8 and 6 1/8. Then I cut my designer papers to 5 3/4" square (of course you could also use 12x12 paper if you wish and cut it into fourths).
I stamped my favorite BoBunny stitch stamp around the edges of each designer paper page, then went on to make some little flips and flaps here and there. To do this, I used dies and various cuts and extended each one about 1 1/4" larger than the finished flap for mounting. I scored at the 1 1/4" mark and taped the section to the inside of the designer paper before adhering to my watercolor page bases. The top of the circular flap is open between the layers so I can tuck a photo inside. The little tag on the opposite allows me to tie them together.
Here's another example with tag dies.
For this album I wanted a nice plush and cozy cover. I glued my cover boards to batting/fleece. The covers are 6x6" and the spine is 2 1/4 x 6". I cut away the excess cushion all around the covers.
I was inspired by the beautiful way Ola Khomenok wrapped her fabric in THIS YouTube video. Thank you for sharing your talents Ola! Here you see how I snipped the fabric near the spine and folded it over and glued in place.
Next, I glued the top then bottom of of the fabric to the insides of the cover (no glue on the front).
Then I glued another strip inside to cover the spine.
Both the top and bottom are folded and glued then the entire strip is glued to the inside.
Finally, I mitered the corners and glued the sides in place nice and taught.
The pages are glued over this space on the front and back inside cover.
After all of my pages were adorned, I glued them to the watercolor bases, then glued the backs of the pages together to form my inside.
I glued pom pom fringe along the edges.
Then glued another strip of fabric over this side.
These little details are so pretty when the book opens up. I plan to tuck a black and white photo of my girls together in the frame area on my cover. :) I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial and are encouraged to play along with our current challenge for a chance to win a wonderful prize pack from our sponsor Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts.

Great tutorial Autumn, and a great album idea. I like the concept of a ready-to-insert-photos album to offer as a gift. I have some corner punches for photo mats but I really wish companies produced dies to do the same.

ReplyDeleteGASP! Wow, Autumn, this has to go down as one of my favorites from the sweet fabric cover to page after page of sheer beauty! I particularly love the bird with the pink button and bit'o'lace behind him. But the butterflies, now they are soo, SO pretty flitting over those spectacular collages! My girl, you have popped this one right out of the ballpark! Sending hugs!

Each page a little piece of collage art and so beautifully done! You rocked this!! Have a wonderful day! hugs x
ReplyDeleteOh, my! This is so beautiful and I'd say you fulfilled more than what you wanted to. Every layout is gorgeous and I love them all equally - you've made it difficult to find a favorite amongst these beauties. I love all of the different ways to add pics in here - not just slipping them into a photo frame, but there are tags, belly bands, pockets (love the torn edged pockets), and it goes on. You keep outdoing yourself and I'm always amazed at your creations, my friend. Big hugs!!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, soft and pretty, in every way! So much love, time and effort has been put into this! Stunning work! ;-)
ReplyDeleteStunning mini, as always. I love that you used some photo mats for the inside to show how photos can be added! But the best...that fabric cover!! I have had fabric on my desk for 2 months now...wanting to make a fabric covered mini so I can be just like you...but so far...the fabric is still just sitting there!!! I need to just DO IT, right?! ;)
