I have the honor of hostessing our latest challenge at Frilly and Funkie, Layers of Lace. Lace, oh so lovely lace! Whether you add delicate layers of fine lace, or tattered and torn crocheted lace, we'd love to see you add dimension and depth to your vintage or shabby chic project with lace. Perhaps you have a favorite lace stamp or will choose to lace something up, we'd love to see your creations inspired by this topic.
These cards were made for four of my besties with a very special event in mind. :)
I layered strips of Venise lace from TFJB with some vintage edged bias tape and some beautiful crocheted lace that actually came off of shirt sleeves from a shirt I can no longer wear. LOL! It was too pretty not to upcycle. I made an inky background with my inks and stamped Tim's script onto it for the tag.
Tea was embossed on Tim's new Baroque die. I inked it with Chipped Sapphire and also stamped my teacups with the same. The pattern is from the fabulous Dots and Floral stamp set. I sponged a little Antique Linen to define the cup.
My background is kraft with strips of tissue tape and splattered gesso. I used my sewing machine for once! :) The grosgrain is also vintage from my stash. I added a Seth Apter Coffee Ring die, a sentiment sticker, and used Tim's Tiny Attacher to staple on a little scrap of dyed seam binding that Linda uses to package her laces. I sponged with some white gesso to tone down my scrunched up doily and the bundled trim. I had SO much fun making my pile-o-cards. I hope you like them and are inspired to dig through your trims and play along in our current challenge. Hugs, Autumn

These cards make me so happy! Why, oh why, can't I be one of your besties? ;) The blues and creams and lace make me think of a Spode tea set. And of course the tea makes me the most happy. I hope that you and your besties have an amazing event. I think we will need to see pictures, especially if tea is included. Have fun!
