Tim Holtz Faceted Heart Chapter 1 Rusty Tag

Hi friends!  I've missed sharing with you so much!  Though I'm not back to my art yet, I'm happy to have some projects to share that I made a good while back for the Tim Holtz Sizzix Chapter 1 Facebook Live release.  You can find Tim's fun video, filled to the brim with inspiration for these new dies HERE.  I had the chance to use the new Faceted Heart die.  It's SO SO COOL!  I was afraid it would be hard to glue together like some other dies I've used, but it was a breeze.  I decided to go for a grungy rusted heart and made this tag.

I cut the Faceted Heart die from watercolor paper, then sponged it with lots of Distress Inks and Oxides until I was happy with the color.  I added some of Tim's Tiny Fasteners before assembling, then went back over the shape with a few splashes of water and sponged along the folds.

I created an inky background and stamped Tim's text stamp, then embossed gears from the Gearhead die set with a variety of Distress and regular embossing powders.

I layered Quote Chips over a stamped Ticket Booth image, cut with the matching Sizzix Ticket Booth framelet.  I added a strip of embossed Mechanics 3D from Metallic Kraft Core, then punched and added my grommets and a dangle of some of Tim's Ideaology findings.

I sang this song while making this tag.  I am reminded that no matter how rusty, pieced together and rigid my heart may be that I am loved and cherished and held in the arms of a mighty God.  I pray that His truth and light will shine through all that I do.  Sending you big hugs today, Autumn

  4. Oh my! I was in awe by your tag when I was watching the Facebook Live. I didn't even know it was yours!
Thank you for explaining what you did! I have to ask, as I was wondering during the live, what dies did you use for the "faux hole-reinforcer"? That was absolutely brilliant!
Thank you so much for sharing!

    1. Hi Jane and thanks for your sweet comment. I used two of the dues from the Gearhead set (linked above) at the top too. I embossed then and layered with a grommet. Have fun playing! Autumn

  10. I am loving that ticket booth stamp and your rusty heart. That dimension looks beautiful but definitely not something one could send in the mail. That watercolor paper created the perfect rusty effect.
    Happy Weekend,
    Kate

  11. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this Tag!!!
The background of the tag itself just matches that rusty heart so PERFECTLY!!!
And; I have a neat idea that the kids in my Grandson’s Sunday School Class (taught by one of my Besties who is very crafty) would be able to make clear (resembling ice) hearts w warm fuzzy inside holding a note “Jesus came in & lives here!”. It would describe “hardened hearts” that go softer when we let Him in. Very visual!
Not to mention *hut-hum* using the die afterwards for more crafts. ;)
    Win/Win situation here.

  19. This tag just makes my heart skip a beat every time I see it! I had NO IDEA this one was yours! You knocked this one out of the ballpark, Autumn! When I first saw those rivets on this heart, I thought to myself "What a BRILLIANT creative move; I can't wait to see who made this!" Your gears are amazingly rusted and your overall design is really fabulous! Way to go, dear friend! You are amazing!

  22. You've really sold me with this die now Autumn, I too did not have much love for this when I saw it as visions of past dies and the frustration trying to glue them together came flooding back. It looks fabulous half popped off the page with it's tiny screw heads. Makes for a great tag really highlighting the potential of that dynamic heart.
A beautiful way to craft with music in our hearts.
Sending healing hugs your way Tracey xx
