PaperArtsy Deap Sea Mixed Media Fish Tag

 

Hi friends!  It's me again trying to get back into the bloggy swing of things.  It seems that things will be harder than ever with the loss of Feedburner, challenges closing and the inevitable fast paced life we're growing accustomed to.  Let me just say how invaluable your interaction with us makers is!  Your follows, comments, shares and continued support mean everything to us and are what make the wheels keep on turning.  So thank you for being here! 

Today I have a mixed media tag to share with you.  I just had to have a play with the new to me PaperArtsy Hot Pick stamp set 2001.  I have wanted this stamp set for over a year now.  My tag was inspired by THIS awesome post by our very own Leandra Franich, the PaperArtsy queen herself. 

I used corrugated cardboard for my base and some of the layers.  I used a lot of Infusions powders to add my color. 

I used crackle paste, Grunge paste and Art Stones with a little Fresco chalk acrylic paint.  I made a motorized "bait" to lure the fish to their proverbial catch using a newer Hot Pick stamp set (2101).

 

 

I haven't been able to swim this summer because of my recent surgery, and this tag literally represents my desire to be in water.  I added a bit of Lavinia's new Mica Minerals powder to create sheen on the fish scales.  Now can I paint myself with it and call me a mermaid?  Pretty please!  Happy summer friends, Autumn

Seahorse Stamp Scrapcosy Summertime Card

 

Happy summer friends!  I'm delighted to be participating in the Topflight Stamps summer blog hop.  I'm using a fabulous stamp by Raquel Burillo Perez AKA Scrapcosy for PaperArtsy, set ESC12.  I love these vintage illustration inspired stamps!

I had a play with watercolors, making an abstract background, then going over it with Distress Ink in Crushed Olive using a PaperArtsy stencil, PS101.  

I used the Darkroom Door Number Medley stamp set to stamp with more Crushed Olive through the stencil.  This is a great "texture stamp" set and stamping through an open stencil is such a fun way to add interest to backgrounds.

I did some extra watercolor panels to do my stamping on and fussy cut and layered the images as show.  I added some sisal fibers and paper punches (an old Tim Holtz "juniper" punch).  I used the Andy Skinner Cosmic Shimmer Matte Adhesive to add the little punches, because it dries flat and has a small applicator, perfect for this type of project.

Along the bottom of the panel I stamped the octopus from the octopus from the stamp set upside down to mimic coral/seaweed.  I cut the large plaque stamp into two pieces so I could use just the phrase whenever I want.  They easily piece back together if I want to use it as originally designed.  I hope these fun techniques will encourage you to try a mixed media card of your own!  It's a great way to spend a hot summer day...
