This card was commissioned by a coworker as a thank you for her lovely grown daughter, who so kindly paid for their family to go on a Disney cruise! Wow, how generous and sweet! She is a very special girl and her mama wanted to give her a very specific thank you card, which she designed and had me create.
I roughly sketched out this tail, which you may right click and open in a new tab to view at the largest size and print for a template if you like.
Quickly, let me share the process. I painted torn strips of paper with blue Lumiere paints, watered down some. Then hand painted the background panel with the same paints and embossed the dotty stamp in white to create a sea foam effect.
I cut out my template and painted it pink, then embossed this geometric pattern onto it with Ranger's holographic powder to create the scales. Any small repetitive pattern should work.
Next, I stamped again in black randomly to add some grunge. ;0
A final coat of DecoArt crackle glaze and some purple Lumiere paint brushed along the edge completed my tail.
I added some Twinkling H2Os to create highlights on the sunset. I dry brushed gesso along the torn and curled layers of "waves", then added some of the color for a reflection. Some random text stamping, splashes of white and blue, and the sentiment completed my card. I hope she will like it!

ReplyDeleteThis is just a wonderfully complex and beautiful creation. I bet the requestor was delighted too! Enjoyed the creative process and thanks for sharing the pictures. You did a terrific take on the scales and the 'curling waves'. I've never deliberately tried to crackle anything (did it recently with some Glossy Accents, but that wasn't my intention. The results looked ok, but had not been the goal.) YOu do so many textural techniques that always look so fantastic. TFS & Stay cool. Also loved the sentiment you've added on the card too.
