Today I am sharing in the Graciellie Design mid-month inspiration hop. I've created a mixed media tag with dripping honey to compliment the beautiful bee images in the Bee Kind set at Gracie's shop. But without further ado, I'm pleased to announce the winner of the August hop:
Congratulations to Marty Fishman of Merry Marty Cards!!!
Marty, I couldn't be happier to see that you're our winner and look forward to seeing what you create with Gracie's digital stamps. Please visit the "Contact" tab on Gracie's blog to claim your prize.
For my tag, I started by adhering torn strips of Prima paper to my tag base. I curled the edges for extra texture and adhered some washi tape for contrast. Next I adhered honeycomb die cuts with hot glue. I then dripped the glue onto my panel intentionally to create dripping “honey.” I painted the glue with white gesso and then colored it with Prima Color Bloom spray and a paintbrush. I sprayed some ink onto my tag as well.
I stamped an additional honeycomb patterns onto my tag. I colored my two bees with colored pencils and mounted them over the honeycombs.
I had some vintage bias tape in the perfect color of yellow, so I wet it heavily and then uncreased the folds to make my ribbon. The fraying occurred naturally when smoothing it out. I was really pleased with this and used the ribbon to tie a loopy bow. I layered a black Prima flower die with a yellow Prima watercolor flower. The word “happy” is a wooden chippie which I embossed with black embossing powder. I decided a simple topper of vintage bakers twine would work best and not compete with the luscious bow. I absolutely LOVE this bee image. It is utterly perfect and the ability to print it in varied sizes is tremendous. Yippee!
Hop on over to see what the other designers created:
