I'm breaking out of my norm today and sharing a shabbilicious project with you. Why you ask? Because the queen of shabby herself, our Lisa, is hostessing our current challenge at Anything But Cute with the theme Shabby Garden Moodboard. Lisa says, "For this challenge, we are asking you to take a stroll through a romantic shabby garden. Create any mixed media project strongly inspired by the mood board. Think flowers and plants in cracked pots, peeling paint bird feeders, distressed timeworn furniture, crumbling statues, soft pastels and feminine accessories. Don't forget to tell us how the mood board inspired your project and have fun!" Wow! Look at this moodboard, jam packed with inspiration.
First I thought I would build some brick texture with a Finnabair stamp. To stamp into texture paste, mist your rubber with water lightly, then make your impressions and clean your stamp immediately. This stamp cleaner made its debut! I never clean my stamps, just wipe them down, but in this case you need to really get down into the cracks and remove all of the paste.
The texture wasn't quite as I had hoped, but cool nonetheless. Too bad I covered it all up!
I had a good ole time slapping and sloshing watercolor around on this baby. You'll see some lace and Prima script stamping, done in pink chalk ink.
Now true to shabby style, I must pile on more flowers than would seem appropriate. LOL! So I grabbed some Prima blossoms, string, and torn crocheted lace and created my clusters.
Onto beautiful Prima paper, I embossed a gate stamp in pewter powder, and then added more embossing to the corners of my panel with Cloisonné powders. This panel is actually a chipboard book I bought to deconstruct and use as "canvases." You will see the cover appear one day. Because it had four holes for the binding, I tricked up my ribbon and made a hanger.
I embossed wooden chippies in shabby pink.
A little hymnal chorus was added to the lower tag. Gardens remind me of our glorious Lord and his tender mercies with creation. "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork." Psalm 19:1(KJV)

Such a beautiful way to create a garden gate, the pewter really looks amazing on the Prima papers and I love the bits you added to the corners. Oh yeah, lots of flowers and shabby ribbon, just how I love it!! You sure rocked that mood board Autumn and I loved seeing how you put this together!! Another masterpiece! hugs :)

ReplyDeleteOh, my GOODNESS, Autumn! I could not wait to get over here and see this shabby work of art up close, but my computer was not up for it early this morning! So finally, I'm in Heaven! I love that Garden gate stamp embossed in Pewter (I'm going to remember that!), your gorgeous background (how clever to use a chipboard book page as a hanging!) and all those stunning shabby flowers and layers! What a shabby masterpiece, my friend! Big hugs!
ReplyDeleteohhhhhh, sigh. What beautifully art-full details on this project, Miss Autumn! GORGEOUS, and I have spent a lot of time looking at each close-up to see those intriguing details - like the lace, and the delicate script. Love the distressing with gold EP, and all the layers of marvelously textured printed papers! Lovely pink ribbon that has been slightly woven at the top of your canvas, and the upside-down tag! Thank you for photographing the process and close-ups, Autumn. And a big smile of gratitude for the inspiration today. hugs, de
