Happy February! We have an amazing challenge in store for you at Stamps & Stencils this month: Texture Crackle and Paint! Our lovely hostess Rachel says, "This month I would love to see what you come up with using texture, crackle and paint! Anything goes using stamps and/or stencils - make it mixed media please. Can't wait to get started - hope you'll join us!"
I just picked up this dots stencil by Tim Holtz and was anxious to use it. I used DecoArts crackle paste and was in a bit of a hurry so I used a hair dryer on the coldest setting to speed up the crackle. I inked my background with walnut stain tintz, an amazing but discontinued product. I used the same inks to paint the girl image, a stamp by Tracy Roos for Peddlers Pack. This stamp is 12 years old. I really enjoyed working with some of my older products. :)
A coworker had given me this garment tag made of wood. I embossed it with Pewter embossing powder, and a light dusting of silver, then sanded down the edges. I used the Tutti Designs Nesting Stitched Hearts die to cut the circle, then embossed with an old Tim Holtz embossing folder. I used Tim's metallic kraft core paper and sanded heavily.
The sentiment is from a Valentine set by Dina Wakley, so precious! The background text stamp is by Prima, stamped in Tree Branch Archival ink. I added a bit of basket filler for additional texture. The awesome vintage paper was a gift from my dear friend Barbara. Thank you Barbara, I love using these! As you see, this card is relatively flat for mailing - quite the accomplishment for me! LOL!
