DIY Chipboard Words for Mixed Media

I'm playing again with the current topic at PaperArtsy, blue and ochre.  Slowly, I will be adding pages to my mini album.  The album construction tutorial can be found HERE.

For this set of pages, I gessoed my chipboard pages with white gesso, then began building layers of Infusions, Distress Inks, and Distress Oxides until I was satisfied with my background.  I used a new stencil and Prima texture paste.  The paste absorbed the colors from the DI, which is a really cool effect.  The yellow half turned yellow and the blue half turned blue.  Love that!

I stamped a Lynne Perrella image onto scrap inky paper and layered her with paper flowers, cloth washi tape, and an embossed wreath.  The white dots come from an embossed stamp.

This embossing powder is so beautiful!  It is Cobalt Tapestry by PSX, discontinued.  I used Tim's tiny attacher to staple the wreath in place.

I had in mind to continue the theme of doors, passages, paths in this album so I printed some favorite song lyrics on cardstock.  I dipped the page in watery DI, then used Mod Podge to adhere to mat board.  I cut the individual words out for impact.

They have quite a lot of dimension, which is hard to photograph but very cool IRL.  Again with the paper flowers and white embossed splats.  Here you can see how the pages look side by side.  Yes, there is a gap between the pages.  I don't mind it at all.  The gap is how I accommodate so much bulk on each page.  Of course you could use a patterned paper and it would be less obvious, but I wanted to use black to really make a dramatic statement with each set of collages.  I hope you like it!

  12. Gorgeous blues which really pop off the page, perfect with the yellow as a foil. I really like the way you treated the words individually with the subtle inky background. Beautiful.

  17. Fabulous inking on this project. Thank you for blessing us with your artwork here at Word Art Wednesday. We are midway on our current challenge and I hope you join us again. Leaving you with the inspiration of God's Word found in 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 which tells us, "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love." Have an awesome week.
