Rusty Celestial Stamped Corrugated Panel

We have an exciting new challenge at Stamps & Stencils this month.  Our fabulous hostess Branka has chosen the theme Lucky Star.  She says, "For this challenge I would love to see a mixed media project that has star/s in it somewhere. You can create anything you like as long as you include a star. Don't forget to use stamps or stencils or both! Can't wait to see what you create!"

You all know I have a love affair with corrugated cardboard.  Well, when I saw THIS post by Etsuko I knew immediately that I wanted to use a tattered edge corrugated panel for my substrate.  I thought it would work perfectly with this celestial stamp by Stampers Anonymous.

The image is stamped onto Distress inky paper and is more vibrant in real life.  I layered over an embossed matboard panel.

I wanted to create a rusty background to contrast with the purples in the focal image.  I layered and layered DI and DOX with Distress Embossing Powder until I was happy.

The Distress EP has no sheen, so I used the blended EP from my mat board to cover these cogs by Bozzy Bear, a prize I won several months ago.  :)

I was happy to find some coordinating sentiments in Tim's new sticker set.  These are all cut from old books and have varying levels of aged paper brown.  The little wooden stars were the final touch.  I would have liked to make a wire hanger, but am out of wire.  I really enjoyed focusing on some beloved stamps in my collection for this challenge.  I hope you are inspired to play along!

  2. Exceedingly cool, Autumn! I love the torn edge corrugate--I've never seen that, and it looks extra fine with that rusty look to it. Great stamped image, too--another first see for me. Love this to bits, and you have inspired me to get out my gears and cogs! Hugs!

  3. The earthy colours, the distressed look and the texture, all appeal to the outdoors gal in me. Here in Australia, we have just spent the last three nights examining the stars on TV programmes by Professor Brian Cox - fascinating, and your moon and stars remind me of the beauty of the natural world. Fave for me.
