Summer's End Mixed Media Tag

Every so often we find ourselves with a fifth Friday and that means a tag party at A Vintage Journey!  My teammates have the most wonderful array of tag designs to share with you, so come on over and join the party!

As I told you yesterday, I'm still clinging to the last days of summer.  I wanted my tag to have the feel of the last moments before the colors and winds change.  I added crackle paste to the perimeter of my tag then glued on my die cut border.  I scraped the die and center with  more crackle paste, to act as a resist.

I dipped my panel in Frayed Burlap and sponged with Bundled Sage, then added Lemoncello Infusions, spritzing with water and letting the colors puddle in the die cut.

I stamped my foliage first in brown, then in black and stamped a brown dotty texture all over.

I added a handmade flower and three large leaves from the Tattered Leaves set, with hand painted veins.  I dyed my ribbon to match, added a sentiment, charm, and cheesecloth and called it quits.  It's very rugged and earthy, just like these fleeting days...

Wendy Vecchi Altered Journal Cover

It's time for a new challenge at Frilly and Funkie and I'm hostessing our challenge with the theme Show Us Your Stamps.  Shocker!  ;0  There's nothing I love more than incorporating stamps into my work.  Here's the challenge description: Our challenge this round can be summed up with one word - STAMPS!  We want to see you break out those stamps and get inky.   There are so many ways to use stamps, and you probably have a few you have never even used - so come play along!  We cannot wait to see your stamped vintage or shabby chic creations.

Upon raiding my "alterable items" bin, I found this freebie journal my daughter was given at a college tour.  She said, "Mom, I think you can use this to alter for your art."  Awe!  She knows me well...  :)  I had painted the cover completely black with gesso previously.  I added a bit of metallic embossing by lightly tapping the edges with my Versmark pad and then adding embossing enamel.  I glued my ribbon on so I could have a tie closure.

I cut a watercolor panel to size then inked with Aged Mahogany and Vintage Photo Distress Inks.  I used one of Tim's tiny stencils and texture paste to create the pattern.  I spritzed with water, then brushed on more DI.

I am still anxious to play with my new Wendy Vecchi stamps, which by the way are on sale this week!  I stamped one of Wendy's sentiments onto inked up card and curled the edges to give it dimension.

I decided to add more black to help balance the border of the journal, so I cut an Ornate Frame 2 die from chipboard and scraped on some texture paste.  I painted the dried frame with black gesso, then lightly tapped my Versamark pad and embossed for a subtle contrast.  I glued in a sheet of burlap for extra texture.

My flowers were stamped in sepia onto lightly inked card and fussy cut to build my design.

I tucked in a couple of snips of black foliage, inked with gold, for extra contrast.

I had this embossed butterfly in the bin and thought he worked perfectly to complete the design.  I hope you're inspired to play along with our challenge for a chance to win a $25 giftcard to the Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Prima Rose Quarts Bohemian Card

Hello dears!  Today I am sharing my final project for Scrapy Land.  :(  This has been the most amazing and talented team to work with, but as you all know I am going a mile a minute these days and can't seem to keep up.  I'm starting to have anxiety with completing projects on time and had to let something go.  I will definitely keep up with the team's beautiful creations and will be entering the challenges again in the future.  Speaking of challenges, our newest challenge begins today with a them of Always Anything Goes with a Die Cut Brand that Scrapy Land sells.

I was eager to play with my new Prima Rose Quartz papers.  I decided to use one of the collage images as a focal point and blend in some of my all time favorite dies.  I cut a Sizzix Tim Holtz Ornate Frame No. 2 from chipboard, then adhered a second cut from one of the black patterned papers over it.  I tucked in a favorite Prima doily die cut for contrast and texture.

I fussy cut a bouquet from the collection.  I curled the corners of my focal element and added some glittery Prima stickers.  These are the insides of the hole reinforcers from a My Prima Planner package, which I had won in a giveaway.  :)

I wanted to tuck a strip of die cut lace and was so excited to find that one of the Sizzix doily set borders matched the Prima doily almost perfectly!  Woot woot!  I curled the paper up to emphasize this element.  I finished with a fussy cut feather, a folded paper flower and a twine bow.  I just wish I had more time to make a few other designs!

Come play along with our current challenge for a chance to win one of two giftcards to the Scrapy Land shop!  And to the SL DT, thank you so much for the encouragement and support these past six months.  I have learned so much from each of you and look forward to continuing our friendship.  xx, Autumn

Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop with STAMPlorations

Happy Friday!  I woke up super early to try and squeeze in one quick card to promote the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.  I realized I had never used this coffee border stamp from STAMPlorations and decided to do an embossing resist pattern with Distress Inks.

I know this is very simple for me, but it was 5:00 am and I was in desperate need for coffee!  LOL!  I stamped a couple of images and fussy cut, then layered with a Darkroom Door sentiment, some string and glittery elements.  I won't have a card a day for this hop, but I hope you will take some time to play along and support the team's efforts.  Thanks to Amy for organizing this season after season.  <3

Prima Amber Moon Fall Cards

Hello!  It's time for a new challenge at Frilly and Funkie and our hostess Kathy has chosen the theme To Everything There is a Season.  She says, "Fall is one of the most beautiful seasons of the year.  Brilliant leaves, fall flowers,  crisp blue skies, and migrating geese fill the season with a sense of wonder and anticipation  You're invited to create a vintage or shabby chic project that captures the beauty of fall.  You can make a card, a tag, share a journal entry or any kind of project you desire. Just be sure to create it in the shabby chic or vintage style and be sure to use fall (not Halloween) images and colors."

I have been counting the days for the new Prima Marketing Amber Moon collection to ship!  Oh how I am in love with this exquisite paper line!  I decided to pair some staple die cut elements with the papers and new flower range to create a couple of cards.

I grabbed the Raven flower pack because it had the most variety and included 12 flowers.  I was afraid they would end up being tiny, but happily no!  I inked up some die cuts to tuck beneath my flower and added a seam binding bow.  This card features a couple of the Say It In Cristals (SIIC), which are exquisite!!!

The butterflies and sentiments from both cards were fussy cut from the paper pack.  I repeated the same dies on my second card to show versatility, plus it's handy to keep working with the items on your table.  ;0

There are so many other sentiment cards just waiting to be used!  I only wish I had more time in the days.  I'm sure you will be seeing lots more from this collection as time allows.

One favorite detail was how the ink absorbed into the veins from the embossing created when cutting the leaves.  I know a lot of people die cut preinked card, but I love inking my cuts after because of details like this and how the edges automatically get inked.  I hope you've been inspired and will play along with our current challenge for a chance to win a $25 gift card to the Funkie Junkie Boutique!
