3 for 1 Verve Stamps and Darkroom Door Cards

Happy Sunday!  My fam wanted to sleep in today so we are going to late service and I had a moment to pop these cards in a post.  I took some time just to play and make some cards for some of my favorite challenges.  I woke up yesterday morning with this shaker card in my brain and got straight to work.  This fun sentiment is from the Kindness Matters stamp set.

This time I made my shaker with fun foam and glue.  They never turn out perfect, but it's fun and I'm happy with it.  :)

I layered over a Prima doily and added a 49 and Market flower.  The paper is forever old and is by Glittz.

I realized this was my last yellow paper in my stash, then I happened to find a pad for $5 at Tuesday Morning and I felt I just had to make a second card with it.  I totally love the "Use Yellow" Diva Inspiration challenge this month!  This stamp is from Scripture Medley 4.  The butterfly is from a Tim Holtz die, and the ribbon is by him too.  For the life of me I can't remember buying the label die, but it was in my stash and I was happy to find it!  LOL!

Friday I spent some time playing with a new Darkroom Door stamp for the April Facebook Challenge, Mother's Day/Feminine.  I'm not totally thrilled with this card.  It was the first thing I've made in weeks, so I guess I was feeling rusty.  Anyway, I love the stamp (Henry and Harriet) and need to use it on a smooth paper next time.

I got these fabric doilies on clearance at Michael's when I was in Columbia with Sara Emily.  I loooooove them!

I embossed this dainty sentiment by Penny Black in gold and paired with Tim's word stickers.

The flower is handmade with a center of Art Stones and the leaves are Tim's too.  And I happily found this pack of vintage seam binding for 10 cents when I went to NC to buy my daughter's prom dress.  There's an awesome thrift shop along the way!  Score!  :)  Well, that's it for me.  Have a great Sunday friends!

Prima Amber Moon Bird Themed Shabby Card

It's that time again!  Today a new challenge begins at Frilly and Funkie.  Our hostess Sara Emily has chosen the theme Neutral Point of View.  She says, "We're seeing a lot of pastel and brighter colors this time of year. For this challenge we're inviting you to step away from all that color and play with your neutral art supplies. You can add a few pops or hints of color, but be sure we see mainly neutrals on your vintage or shabby chic design. (Think black, white, gray, brown, beige, cream, ivory; even gold and silver.)"

I needed a card for my friend Bonnie's retirement.  I turned to my favorite neutral papers, the Amber Moon collection by Prima, the bird and the wood.  I layered with older floral paper from Prima's The Archivist collection.  I cut the Birds on a Wire die by Spellbinders to compliment the vintage birdie image.  The sentiment is from Tim's Metallic Quotations stickers.

I tucked in natural colored lace and layers of Prima flowers.

I stamped Wendy Vecchi's new stamp set onto one of her Pocket Watches Art Parts in Coffee Archival ink, then sponged with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.  I added a bundle of thread over my stained seam binding and a Tim Holtz doily die.  I hope you're inspired and will play along with our current challenge for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Yellow Authentique and Verve Stamps Mother's Day Card

Happy Monday friends.  Today I'm sharing a sweet and simple Mother's Day card  made for the latest Verve Stamps Inspiration Challenge.

I was happy to settle in and make a Mother's Day card with this gorgeous Verve Stamps sentiment.  I have tons of 6x6 paper pads in my stash and pulled out this older Authentique paper and did some simple layering with a Stampin' Up die cut gifted to me by the sweet Debbie Mageed of Secrets to Stamping.  I finished with a Prima flower, twine bow and little ribbon bow made from the freebie in a Funkie Junkie Boutique package.  :)  I hope this burst of yellow brightens your day!

Prima Double Stenciled Tag with Lindy's Spray

So here's the deal, I am a HUUUUUGE fan of Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays!  I love them so much and have never found any spray that works so well and has the same mottled effect when it dries.  Well, I would love to play along with their color challenges more, but sometimes have a hard time working in the rainbow color palettes.  So this month was right up my alley in its monochromatic scheme.  :)

When I was making my canvas for our Rusty and Crusty challenge at A Vintage Journey (blogged HERE) I pulled out some white Prima flowers and thought I would spray them for that project.  Well, they liked to never have dried, so I moved on.  The next day I came back and saw how incredible they looked and decided to do a second project, this double layered tag.

I used Rizzo's Rowdy Red, Tears on My Pillow Tangerine, Sandra Dee Sepia and Cocoa Bean Copper with different amounts of each spray on the three flowers for three different effects.

I mounted one tag over another.  For the back tag I added some torn Tim Holtz tissue tape.  For the top tag I stenciled a beautiful Prima damask then used the same sprays mentioned above, with the addition of Cafe au Lait.  Between the layers I tucked in a leftover snipped of my embossed doily from the above mentioned canvas.

I added some stamping with a BoBunny musical strip.  My flowers were mounted over a distressed crocheted square and I tucked basket filler between the tags.

I chose this beautiful sticker from 7Dots Studio.  It is absolutely perfect and most fitting right now.  :)  I used the beautiful edged crinkle ribbon from D.L. Art and gave it a spray of Cafe au Lait to tone down the white.

"For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

Tim Holtz Birds and Sunflowers Bohemian Card

Today we begin a new challenge at Frilly and Funkie and our hostess Cec has chosen the theme Elegant Jewels.  She says, "Let's make a vintage or shabby chic project in jewel tone colours such as deep purple, emerald green, jade green, burgundy, bright turquoise to name a few AND to make your project extra special, add some sort of jewel or gem, which can be anything from a dollar store find to a piece of broken jewelry."

I created a super colorful card with a bohemian flair inspired by the book The Secret Garden.  I was going for a wild and enchanting look.  For my background panel, I partially stamped the Tim Holtz Lattice stamp randomly on a magenta colored cardstock panel, then one section at a time I embossed with Ranger sticky embossing powder and quickly applied foil over the embossing.  I went along the edges with a glue stick and rubbed it in with my finger, then foiled it as well.

Oh how quickly I am becoming addicted to foiling!  If you missed my foil resist project, please check that out HERE.

Next I made a little boho frame by using circle dies to cut a frame from chipboard.  I tied my twine onto the frame and then rolled the twine in a ball so I could easily wrap it around my frame.  I'm not gonna lie, this took 10-15 minutes to make and was a little tedious for my taste!  I plan on working on some while watching TV next time...

I tripple embossed the die cut raven in Wow! teal embossing powder for an enameled look.  I layered him over my frame and some stained sisal basket filler along with a stained doily and Venise Lace.  I used Fossilized Amber for the sisal, Blueprint Sketch for the lace, and Pine Needles for the doily.

I stained my greenery and feather with Blueprint Sketch and Pine Needles.

I made my sunflowers with the Tattered Florals die.  I added one layer of die cut crinoline.  The center was made by using two of the medium daisies from the Tiny Tattered Florals set, rolled together.  I finished up by adhering some broken earring pieces and adhesive gemstones.  And of course everything received a splash of watery gesso.  :)  I hope you're inspired to play along with our gem of a challenge for a chance to win a $25 to The Funkie Junkie Boutique.
