This card was one of those ideas that popped into my head and I tried to create from that vision. Sometimes I get ideas this way, other times I just play until it works together. I dipped my background panel into pools of watercolor, then went to town splattering various colors of teal and brown. I tried to center them into a stripe going up the card.
For extra texture and interest to the drips, I stamped this beautiful honeycomb/poppy over the splatters. I absolutely love using this stamp for background stamping! I then layered a honeycomb chippie (Tim Holtz die) to bring some contrast.
I gave the stickers a border wash of black to compliment the butterfly, then sketched lines around them and the border of the card. I could just eat this background up!

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!! Your card is sooooooo lovely with that gorgeous handmade backdrop for the beautiful butterfly! I am so impressed with your work, Autumn. I also love the way you sketched around the edges of the card and the words. It added just the right finishing touch. Your imagination is an amazing thing to behold! May I ask what background stamp you used and what kind of pen you used for the sketching? I really want to give those both a try. We are passing through Spartanburg in about an hour. I'm not sure how close that is to your corner of SC. We're headed to our place in Gatlinburg for a week of family fun. Wishing you a happy Independence Day!
