Prima Wild and Free Mini Album Tutorial

Hello sweeties!  It's time for a new challenge at Frilly and Funkie.  Our hostess Sara Emily has chosen the theme Read Any Good Books Lately?  She says, "Reading a good book on the beach or on the porch is a simple summer pleasure. For this challenge, please create a vintage or shabby chic project that depicts a favorite book or use book pages on your project, alter a book or even make a book or journal page! Just be sure it's in the vintage or shabby chic style that we are looking for!"

I made this sweet little 5 x 7" mini album with the fabulous Prima Wild and Free A4 paper pad.  I used many Tim Holtz dies to embellish.  My favorite feature was using the Mixed Media thinlet background dies to show through to the backing black pages.

I'll let you scroll through the pages uninterrupted and then share my tricks and measurements at the end...

I wanted to make an album that would also work with the 8 x 8" pad as well as the A4 pad, which I have used here.  I wrapped the spine with an alternate pattern so that the front covers could be done with an 8" width paper.  I marked a line on the front of both chipboard covers and adhered my papers at the line.

I used my ruler to measure one inch on the three sides for my wrap.  I used Red Line tape to adhere.

I wrapped my spine matching up the lines.  To make the tassel, I punched a large hole in the center at the top of the spine and ran a grouping of ribbons, laces and strings through and tied.  I used a string to tie the bottom of the knot tightly so that the ribbons would look more like a tassel.

I punched two tiny holes in the back and threaded my twine.  I put some Red Line tape between the holes to make sure they didn't tear and to hold the threads in place before I added my inner lining.

I used one sheet of dotty paper from the Tales of You and Me collection.  I took care to line up the inner spine wrap with the outer spine wrap.  I used Beacon 3-1 glue for the inner linings to help cover any ridges from the tassel, folded papers, etc.

Here are the measurements as promised:
Covers 5 x 7"
Spine 1 3/4 x 5
Outer Spine Wrap: 6 1/2 x 5 3/16
Front and Back Cover Inner Lining: 4 7/8 x 6 7/8
Spine Inner Lining: 4 7/8 x 5 3/16

Signatures (See THIS tutorial on assembling signatures):
4 7/8 x 1 1/4
4 7/8 x 1 3/4
4 7/8 x 2 1/4

Base Pages (Black): 4 7/8 x 6 7/8
Designer Paper Page Overlay: 4 3/4 x 6 3/4

Photo Sizes: 3 3/4 x 2 7/8
Mat: 4 x 3 1/8
