Tim Holtz 4th of July Patriotic Decor
Hi friends! Thank you so much for your warm comments on my last couple of posts. We are enjoying some much needed R&R and I've had some time to play in the studio. I wanted to go all out for our 4th of July party this year and after making THIS patriotic card, so I have been busy decorating. I started with this wreath, inspired by Pinterest. I've never made a wreath before and probably needed to wire things a bit more, but so far I'm enjoying it! Next, I wanted to do some word art, so I came up with this little Tim Holtz framed panel. :)
For my panel, I started by taping my 1" Alpha Numeric Dies with washi tape to my cutting plate word by word and cut them from blue Bazzil. I layered the strips over Tim's Correspondence paper. I splashed the panel with watery gesso to resemble fireworks.
I'm so happy to finally get hold of Tim's Funky Florals 3 die set. I cut each piece for my floral swag from watercolor paper, then sponged them with Distress Inks to get vibrant color. You could easily use Kraft Core cardstock for this, but I love the variegation you get from inking. For the flowers I layered two flowers and two centers for a fuller look. I molded them with my flower shaping tools.
Finally, I gave Tim's Framed Wooden Panel a wash of watery gesso to compliment my farmhouse decor. This was really fun to make and I'm already enjoying having it on display. Now to do a second panel with the letters leftover from my word strips. :)
Wow, Autumn, they are both so stunning!! I love the wreath!! You did a fabulous job!! And the word art is so amazing!! I love the flowers and the greenery!! The "fireworks" are a perfect touch!! Gorgeous, my friend!! I love them both!! Have a great day!! Big hugs :)
