Tim Holtz Style 4th of July Patriotic Card

Sadly, today is my last post for Frilly and Funkie.  While I have loved being a part of one of THE most creative teams in all of blog land, I have made the difficult decision to step down.  We have had much more than our share of sickness in our family this year and I am wiped.  I truly appreciate each and every DT member and their inspiration and support for this last year.  And I am honored to have worked for Linda to represent The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you all.  And to my readers, thank you for your comments, love and prayers during this difficult season.  I hope to continue to provide inspiration for you here at SewPaperPaint, but just need to do it at a little slower pace for a while.  <3

And now onto today's inspiration, my patriotic card for our current Frilly and Funkie challenge, By Airmail.  Our hostess Zoe says, "I just love sending and receiving letters in the mail. And especially love the stamps, airmail stickers and postmarks that these letters pick up along the way. For this challenge, create a vintage or shabby chic postal themed project. Think old fashioned aircraft, airmail stamps, post marks, postage stamps."

I snipped out part of a Found Relative card and distressed its edges to look like an old square photo.

I layered with little bits of postal paraphernalia that all have a very sentimental meaning to me.  The airmail stripes remind me of letters my husband sent me while he was in Iraq.  The crumpled letter addressed "Dear Sweetheart" reminds me of our correspondence.

The Finnabair Mechanicals wings remind me of my Grandfather, a retired airman.  I tucked in a postal die and bits of vintage trims from my stash.  The USA letters are from an old church Sunday School sign (thanks Bonnie!)  You could definitely use Tim's Typography letters.  I added a Petal Lu poppy for remembrance.  Little bits of old postage are tucked here and there and an actual envelope I received from an old friend who passed away.  What a sentimental card this is!  I do hope you like it and will play along with our current challenge for a chance to win a $25 to the Funkie Junkie Boutique.

What a beautiful project Autumn - sounds as though you have had a really character building year.. I've have a few of those recently, and now my eyes are telling me they are getting old and are behaving badly, so I may not be around much either in the short term... Hugs and prayers, dear friend. if I may call you that.
Blessings

I am sad to hear about your problems and your leaving this talented DT. But you are doing such a lot already, I don't know how you managed so far, even without real life interfering! Somehow, I feel you'll be back...
