Simon Hurley Timeless Textures 3D Embossing

 

Hello lovely friends!  I am thrilled today to announce my new collaboration with Spellbinders Paper Arts.  I am so excited to share some new projects with you!  Make sure you follow my blog, because I have so much in store over the coming months!  

First, I upgraded my die cutting system to the New & Improved Platinum Machine with Universal Plate System - 8.5" Platform.  I've had my old machine for so long and really wanted a wider cutting base.  This machine works with EVERY brand and includes all of the plates required for any die cutting, embossing or foiling.  A couple of Christmases back I got an electronic cutting machine by another company and it quit working within the month.  Thankfully I received a refund.  I have been skeptical of trying again, but I am so glad I did!  I've really enjoyed my Platinum so far.  If you don't need the 8.5" cutting option, Spellbinders makes a smaller 6" Platinum Machine as well.  

Today's projects are centered around the new Simon Hurley Timeless Textures 3D embossing folders and dies.  

Recently my friend Carol and I had a playday to create our Flowers Magic Art Fest journals.  I used a combination of vintage linens to create my cover and bound a variety of vintage book pages and tea dyed papers within.  I've shared more detail on my IG Reel HERE.  I hope to share a quick tutorial on my YouTube page soon.  Please leave me a comment if you are interested.  HERE is a flip through of another of my vintage journals.  

We played with some tea stained paper, which was standard copy paper folded in half, then embossed with the Flowing Florals 3D Embossing Folder.  What gorgeous pages!  I used one to wrap around a signature.  I just love how Spellbinders new embossing folders are large enough to use in this way!

Next I was inspired to create an ephemera pocket to share some goodies with a journaling friend.

I embossed a kraft card panel with the Hummingbird Garden 3D Embossing Folder.  I loved the kraft!  I then dipped the panel in Chipped Sapphire and Rusty Hinge Distress Inks.  When that was dried, I used a Versamark ink pad to add some copper embossing powder lightly over the raised textures.  

I tested out the Glimmer Hot Foil System for the first time and foiled the Must Have Sentiments by Simon Hurley onto blue cardstock.  I didn't expect it to work, but I followed the instructions in the box and it worked on my first try.  

I cannot believe I procrastinated in foiling until now!  It was so easy and I am smitten over these copper foiled little sentiments!  I mounted my pocket over a book page onto coordinating blue cardstock onto a kraft square card.  I filled it to the brim with goodies from my stash and finished with an acetate butterfly, which I stapled onto a tag and covered the staple with one of my foiled expressions. 

For my final project I created a sweet little mixed media greeting card using the Rattan Cane 3D Embossing Folder embossed in the same blue card.  I layered with book pages and kraft core copper card I cut from the Essential Stylish Ovals dies.  These are such great dies!  They have sold out multiple times, so make sure to click "Notify Me" and Spellbinders will send you an email when they restock.  

I gave the card base a splash of Rusty Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paint by PaperArtsy and the book page a splash of Rusty Hinge and Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink, then layered with my foiled sentiment and the Hummingbird Garden 3D Embossing Folder & Coordinating Dies.  I really love the ability to use this set with or without the 3D background or cutout hummingbirds.  I hope these projects have inspired you and you'll checkout the Timeless Textures Collection by Simon Hurley on the Spellbinders website.  Hugs, Autumn

Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps Christmas Cards

 

Hi friends!  I'm back to share part two of my projects for my guest designer stint with Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps this October.  For today's first project I have a pair of shaker cards made with the gorgeous new Pine stamp & die bundle.  I'm really excited about the addition of these dies and how well they add dimension.  

I created some inky backgrounds by dipping two bristol panels in watery Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap Distress Inks.  This warmed up the white just a little and left some good ink drops here and there.  Next, I used Bundled Sage, Peeled Paint and Gathered Twigs to ink each pine bough, then off stamped, then spritzed with water for very faint images in my background.

I then used my stamp platform to restamp the images in the same colors multiple times, with much less water spritzing for my focal pieces.  I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.  On the pinecones, I used a little extra ink to watercolor and fill in the images.  On the center of each of my background panels, I stamped the gorgeous hymn from the Best Gift Ever sentiment set.  Finally, I cut some square frames from kraft card to finish the shakers.  I gave each card a splash of white watery gesso and a loopy baker's twine bow.  I'll share a video on Instagram so you can see these shakers in action @sewpaperpaint.  

For my next card, I created a faux snow globe by cutting a circle from kraft card and layering over a rectangle with the top corners snipped off.  I edged the black in gold ink to help it pop.  Inside I stamped the bear from the Woodland Scene Silhouettes.  I just love him!  I added some watercolor with Black Soot Distress Ink to ground him.  I layered a sentiment from the O Holy Night set and a loopy twine bow.  

For my background, I used the incredibly cozy new Knit background stamp.  I clear embossed it onto red card, then sponged the edges with Black Soot and gave everything a splash of watery gesso.  

For my last card this month, I used one of my very favorite old sets, We Three Kings.  I embossed it on a black panel and gave it a splash of Finetec gold metallic watercolors.  These are highly pigmented watercolors.  I used Staz On to stamp the sentiment onto gold card.  For my background I used the newly released Large Snowflakes background stamp.  I embossed it in gold onto silver card, then splashed with black gesso.  I hope these cards have inspired you today.  Find more inspiration in my previous posts HERE.  xx, Autumn

Winter and Christmas Release at Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps

 

Hi friends!  I'm delighted to be joining Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps as a guest designer for October.  It was great fun to make a batch of Christmas cards with the new releases.  Up first, I used the incredible Large Snowflake 6x6" background stamp.  

I used Distress Ink in Festive Berries with my stamp platform to stamp the snowflakes, then over stamped in Versamark ink and embossed in holographic glittery embossing powder.  I really love the shimmer!  

I finished the card by adding a strip of glitter cardstock in aqua and a row of cocoa or lattes - you choose - using the adorable Coffee Talk stamps & coordinating die set.  I tucked in a folded doily and added the stamped "Joy" using the same technique as the snowflakes with Distress Ink in Evergreen Bough.  The stamp is from the Choose Faith set.  I finished with a loopy crinkled bow.

Up next, I played with the perfectly cozy new Knit background stamp.  I inked it with Distress Ink in Evergreen Bough and spritzed it with water for a different effect.  

I layered two of the mugs from the Coffee Talk stamps & coordinating die set over a Vintage Photo inky circle and paired with a sentiment from the Blessings in Disguise stamp set.  I used my tiny attacher (stapler) and a little bakers twine to finish it off.

My last card for today is an ink blend design.  I used torn paper as a mask and blended snowy hills using Distress Oxides in Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans.  I gave the panel a splash of water, watery gesso and each watered ink color for a faux snow look.  I stamped the deer from the Scene Silhouettes stamp set.

I finished by repeat stamping the beautiful new Christmas Pine stamps with Distress Inks in Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot, then cutting with the coordinating dies.  I topped the card with a loopy bakers twine bow.

Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps Hope Word Art and Wildflower Release

 

I'm honored to be a guest designer for Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps this month and have had a wonderful time getting inky with the new release!  For my first card I've combined the absolutely gorgeous Be A Wildflower stamps and coordinating dies with the Hope Word Art stamps.  

I did an embossing resist using Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron and Squeezed Lemonade.  I absolutely LOVE this promise and hope it brings you joy today!  I masked off the top element of so it would fit better with my flower arrangement.

Next I used the gorgeous Be A Wildflower stamps & dies again with Distress Inks in Blueprint Sketch and Squeezed Lemonade for another embossing resist.  

I'm really into blue and yellow these days as a reminder to pray for Ukraine.  To get the halo effect in the background, I used a makeup type of ink blending brush in a circular motion, but then sprayed and blotted the whole blended panel and added splashes of Blueprint Sketch, watered gesso and plain water in layers.  

Next, I did a little monoprinting fun with the fabulous Floral Doily stencil by using Distress Oxide in Shaded Lilac.  I fussy cut the doily and layered over another inky panel made with SL and Wilted Violet, on which I stamped a sentiment from the God is Good stamp set.  

Atop of the doily, I layered flowers from the gorgeous new release Be A Wildflower stamps & dies.  I especially love the sprigs of greenery included in this stamp set!  I really hope these cards have inspired you to get inky today.  xx, Autumn
