Vintage Butterflies Distressed Mixed Media Cards

Hey everyone!  I hope you are having a great (and creative) summer!  Today I have a couple of fun cards to share with you using the totally gorgeous Vintage Butterflies Blooms Stamps & Dies by Creative Worship Stamps.

I was trying to try some new color combos and this one was created with Worn Lipstick and Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.  I used texture paste through the new Lovely Lace stencil, then stamped in Brushed Corduroy with the branch stamp around that.  I sprayed it with water repeatedly to diffuse the stamping.  I added another torn layer with more stamping using the little berry bundle, then another inky layer unstamped.  I pulled some pieces from my leftover pile and cut them into little tags, topped with the awesome tag topper in the Tag & More Die Set.  These were stamped with my Faith Definitions 2 stamps and the Vintage Snippets stamps.  I finished with a sentiment from Typed Thoughts.

My next cards were stamped repeatedly from the same branch stamp in the Vintage Butterflies Blooms Stamps using Archival ink in Coffee.  I stamped them as a pair so I could overlap stamping.  I found the branch works great going all in one direction for a row, then turning it upside down for the next row.  I dipped the panels in watery Antique Linen Distress Ink, then very loosely watercolored the petals and leaves with Tattered Rose, Wild Honey and Crushed Olive.  For the green berries I used a marker.

I then cut my cardstock in half vertically to make two top-fold cards.  I used the new Decorative Edges Dies to cut the bottom of the cards and colored panels.  I found a scrap of textured card and used oval dies to cut "relief panels" then sponged the edges with Wild Honey and stamped the floral motif from the set in Tattered Rose in the middle.  I layered with watercolored butterflies and sentiments from Typed Thoughts.  I just love these pretty panels and stamping my own backgrounds always gives me such a thrill!  I hope you will try it too.  Hugs, Autumn

Embossing Resist and Mixed Media Card Making

Hey friends!  I'm back today to share a fun set of cards using an embossing resist technique I learned from Tami Bastiaan years and years ago.  I started by making an inky background with Distress Inks in Worn Lipstick and Vintage Photo and dried that panel thoroughly before clear embossing the entire Typewriter Keys Caps Alpha stamp set onto the panel.

Then I went in with lots more Vintage Photo over that and it resisted the lighter clear embossing, showing the pink through!  So fun!  I did not iron off the EP like Tami has done, but I did cut it into a mini file folder with my paper cutter.  I layered it over a background made with the same inks over my brand new Faith Definitions 2 stamp set I designed for Creative Worship Stamps!  If you've enjoyed Faith Definitions set 1, you will love this set and how well it works with various holidays/events, let alone your journaling.  Take notw how I first stamped my definitions in Wendy Vecchi's Tree Bark Archival Ink onto my Bristol panel, then dipped it in the inks.  The oil in the Archival inks acts as a bit of a resist too and I love how the ink pooled around the definitions!

To finish out the card I layered a die cut Polaroid Frame, stamped with the Vintage Snippets stamps.

I made a second panel with a different background stamping the Flower Burst Background Clear Stamp in WV Fern Green Archival Ink with the same ink dipping.  I used the numbers strip from the Typewriter Keys Caps Alpha stamp set and the Polaroid Frame die, this time stamping it with the Faith Definitions 2 and staining the center cut out with Peeled Paint DI.  Both cards feature watercolored images from the Hope Blooms Stamp and Die Bundle and the birthday sentiment from the Wordfetti Mash-up sentiments.

My next card uses the same embossing resist background technique with the Typewriter Keys Caps Alpha stamp set.  I added more inks over the piece using Distress Inks in Seedless Preserves and Wild Honey.  I overstamped with my Faith Definitions 2 stamp set.  I layered onto a wadded up panel stamped with the Vintage Ledger Page stamp.

I layered with an inky panel using the same colors and white embossed a sentiment from Timeless Hymns.  I layered over a little ticket from the new Spring Collage Tag set.  Finally I added a butterfly from Vintage Butterflies Blooms.  I hope you're inspired to try this resist technique and enjoy it!  xx, Autumn

Galentines, Flowers, Birds & Faith Cards

Hi friends!  Happy Galentines lovelies!  I'm sharing a fun card idea with you today using the new Polaroid die set by Creative Worship Stamps with a personalized photo to share with the girls you love.  I had a lot of fun creating this card, starting with an inky background made with Distress Oxide Sprays in Abandoned Coral and Vintage Photo.  This die set has a variety of sizes and I used the largest and printed a 3x3" photo for the center.

I did some partial stamping with Distress Oxide ink in Walnut Stain using the new Graffiti Background stamp, then added some edging with the Sew Many Stitches stamp set - love!  I adorned the card with the gorgeous new floral design by Casey Turner called Victory Blooms.  I used Distress Inks in Abandoned Coral and Spiced Marmalade to color the blooms.  I hope you'll enjoy making some personalized cards of your own inspired by this project!

Another fun and grungy card I made features the same Victory Blooms stamp set in a completely different way, as a perch for the darling bird from More Than Sparrows stamp and die set.

I started by using Distress Oxides in Evergreen Bough and Iced Spruce and Distress Inks in Shabby Shutters and the ink squishing technique.  I began stamping with the Graffiti Background stamp and the stems of the Snowdrops stamp.  Then I sponged through the Blotchy Dots and Hearts stencil with Distress Ink in Salvaged Patina.

I used the same colors plus Vintage Photo and a periwinkle color of Zig marker to color the images before using the coordinating dies to cut them.  I then cut out a little tag and stamped the precious sentiment from More Than Sparrows onto it and tucked it beneath my layers - fun!

I was really enjoying the grunge and had another Distress Oxide Spray background made with Vintage Photo, Rusty Hinge and Peacock Feathers.  I stamped the awesome new Joshua 1:9 sentiment stamp onto a piece of it.  I used the remainder to make a background panel and sponged the Diamond Floral Layering Stencil with DOX in Walnut Stain and spritzed it with water to diffuse.

To add some extra texture, I stamped the Vintage Snippets onto coffee filter and tore it to use as transparent collage layering.  I hope these projects have inspired you to get inky today!  Again, happy Galentines to all of you with so much love.  xx, Autumn

Hope Blooms with Creative Worship Flower Stamps

Hey sweet friends!  I have so enjoyed playing with a new stamp and die cut combo, Hope Blooms, by Creative Worship Stamps this month!  It's such a beautiful and versatile stamp set and the convenience of using the dies really allows you to make great combinations and dimension.  Both of these cards feature light colored flowers, oddly enough, so next time I will try to pack a color punch!  Ha ha!

I just love trying to watercolor white flowers!  I inked this one with a combination of Antique Linen, Mowed Lawn and Evergreen Bough Distress Inks.  I used the dies to cut the flower and leaves then layered them onto the Stitched Circles die, which I had splashed with watery Evergreen Bough ink.  I popped the die cut sentiment up and layered over a dry embossed teal background, dotted with pearl adhesive embellishments.

My next card features another flower from the Hope Blooms stamp and die bundle.  I went a bit grungy with this one, creating an inky background from Frayed Burlap, Bundled Sage and Weathered Wood, overstamping with the Vintage Snippets stamp set.  I colored the focal flower using the same inks and cut it with the coordinating dies.  I made a long inky tag and added a die cut sentiment.

This card makes me happy!  I hope it makes you smile today too.  xx, Autumn

Kate Crane and Kay Carley Christmas Cards

Hey friends!  I'm sharing a few fun Christmas cards I made with my mom using gel prints.  These feature some lovely Kate Crane and Kay Carley Christmas stamps.

The deer and tree stamps are discontinued now, but the houses come from Kay's stamp set by PaperArtsy, EKC63.  I love this stamp set so much!  I layered with gel prints and used a variety of snowflake stencils from my stash and hand drawn hills, which I added shading with light grey ink and glittery accents.

This year Kate has released a gnome stamp set that would be just as cute here!

Inspired by Kay's product packaging, I made another card with a gel printed background and a row of houses.  I loved using the pencil trees between each house.

I drew a little welcoming path.  I embossed the background with white snowflake stamps from the set.  Such fun!  I hope these cards brighten your day and give you some ideas for using your prints this Christmas.  xx, Autumn

Faith Based Stamps Handmade Greeting Cards

Hi sweet friends!  I'm back with fresh inspiration for you using beautiful new products by Creative Worship Stamps, formerly Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps, a wonderful faith based stamp company in the States.  I'm delighted to get to use some of the new releases this October.  For this first card, I used the brand new Peace & Grace dies.

I made an inky background using Distress Oxides in Faded Jeans and Peacock Feathers.  I sponged over it with more Faded Jeans through the Bold Bloom stencil.

I stamped an inky tag made with the same colors with a beautiful blossom from the Nature Silhouettes 4 set and finished with a simple word stamp from the new Wordfetti Mash-ups.

For my next card, I used the new Vintage Snippets (rulers) and Peace & Grace Word Dies again.  I made an inky background using Vintage Photo and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks and stamped the rulers, cutting them out to use on different projects.

For my background, I made an inky panel using Rustic Wilderness and Vintage Photo, then stamped the rulers again in Rustic Wilderness.  I layered a torn hymn page over this for contrast.  I made a third inky panel with Antique Linen and stamped it very lightly to further add the distressed look with the Vintage Elements (label).  I attached the Peace die cut and a cutout flower from the Botanical Collages set and finished with a twine bow.  The verse was added with a fine liner pen using my handwriting.

My last card for today is a bright and cheery birthday card.  I used the gorgeous Be A Wildflower stamp and die set and colored the flowers with my Zig markers and water.

I made a little vase by cutting a Sharpie striped rectangle and rounding the bottom corners.

I sponged the Circle Pattern stencil with Distress Oxide in Peacock Feathers onto a white background  panel.  I stamped the greenery in Twisted Citron.

I added the new Happy & Hugs die cut in pink and  the birthday word from the new Wordfetti Mash-up stamp.  I hope it makes you smile today!  Make sure to check out all of the beautiful new release products at Creative Worship Stamps!
