Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps Instagram Hop Vintage Card Inspiration

Hi friends!  I'm back with part two of my Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps guest design post.  If you missed part one, click HERE.  Today's projects are on the more vintage side, which is what I love the most, even though I dabble in color to keep myself open and explorative.  

For my first card, I played with watercolor mark making using Distress Inks in a combination of Ground Espresso, Gathered Twigs and Frayed Burlap for the bottom portion of my card.  I masked off the top so I would have a one layer card for stamping the Sew Many Stitches onto.  What a fabulous stamp set this is, and one that I'm thrilled to add to my stash and will use constantly.  

I added the glorious new release Hope Word Art sentiment at the top, fussy cutting the banner and mounting with foam tape for dimension.  I finished with a watercolored moth from the Secret Garden stamp set.  This card makes me so very happy!

For this tag I started by doing a no line watercolor of the bird stamp from Singing Praises.  For no line watercolor, you simply stamp in a super pale color then watercolor over it and the lines virtually disappear.  I used Antique Linen Distress Ink then colored with a combination of Frayed Burlap, Weathered Wood, Vintage Photo, Rusty Hinge and Black Soot.  

Because I was using a similarly neutral background for my tag, I chose to go in and do some sketchy outlines with my Staedtler triplus fineliner, a pen I love so much, which I also use to fill in gaps in stamping because it coordinates well with Versafine ink.  

I used my leftover inks from coloring to dip the tag into, then applied texture paste through the Floral Doily Stencil.  

I added some stitching from Sew Many Stitches at the bottom in Rusty Hinge, then a piece of torn hymnal page that says "measured grace... gives", so sweet!  I bundled some sisal fibers and stapled the middle to secure, then perched my birdie with foam tape and glue.  

I stamped another inky panel with this beautiful promise from the GORGEOUS Hope Word Art stamp set and curled the corners with a toothpick, and added more stitch stamping.  

I tore a piece of fabric from my stash to add as a topper and used a crossover of staples to secure it so it would remain fluffy and not cover the gorgeous focal elements.  

I realized I never blogged my last couple of projects for SNSS hops, so I thought I'd sneak them in here as they tie in with the vintage vibes of this post.  For this card I embossed the Psalm 23 background stamp in Egyptian Turquoise (by Scrapcosy for WOW)  then added a light dipping of Frayed Burlap and Evergreen Bough Distress Ink.  This Psalm background is my favorite stamp!  I love the small size and script and of course the beautiful prayer.  I would love to see other Psalms in various sizes/scripts in the future.  <3

I watercolored the Encouraging Peonies stamp and fussy cut it, stamping the coordinating sentiment on an oval die cut and finishing with a jute bow.  

And one more card I made for the spring CLBH.  I just love making coffee cards and actually won this stamp & die set from a recent Coffee Lovers giveaway.  :)

I used very watery Peacock Feathers DI and brushed along the center of the panel, spritzing with water to create the drops.  I stamped the Delightfully Delicate background stamp along the bottom portion, misting the stamp to give it a less defined look.  I used the Coffee Talk stamp set for the mugs and sentiment, adding some loose watercolor at the top of the panel in Antique Linen and Vintage Photo.

Studio Light Fall Grunge Stamps Tag Book

 

I just love using the Art by Marlene Ini Mini Zig Zag Journal cutting dies (ABM-MUC-CD417) and have created yet another little tag book!  This time I cut each tag apart.  Each of the tags features a gorgeous new image from the Studio Light Grunge collection.  What a fabulous new range this is!  I'm totally smitten.  

I dipped the tags in a combination of Distress Inks: Peeled Paint, Fossilized Amber, Rusty Hinge and Walnut Stain.  This tag features the Autumn Stamps set (SL-GR-STAMP451) and one leaf from the Autumn Elements cutting dies (SL-GR-CD534). 

This sunflower is from the Flower Elements set (SL-GR-STAMP452).  

The bottom section of each tag is perforated to have a tearaway or folding element.  I used this section to stamp little ticket images from the new Jenine's Mindful Art (JMA) Ticket to Happiness stamp & cutting dies set (JMA-RM-SCD62).  In the background on this tag I used the Lines and Dots mask (SL-GR-MASK206).  

On the background of this tag I used the Grungy Bits mask (SL-GR-MASK204) and used Studio Light Structure Paste with the Lines and Dots mask.  

I used the Autumn Branches set (SL-GR-STAMP449) here with some layered, dyed cheesecloth.  

I sponged the backs of the tags with more Walnut Stain and then stenciled with Ground Espresso Distress Oxide.  I tied them all together with a piece of sari ribbon.  It was so much fun getting grungy with these new stamps!  Make sure to check out the entire release from your favorite stockist.  xx, Autumn

Important Update: Studio Light Cards and Tags

Hi everyone!  I've been totally swamped with travel basketball and thought it was time to do a catchup blog post with projects I've shared on Instagram and haven't gotten around to blogging.  This will give you an opportunity to save these projects on Pinterest if you so desire.  ;0

Here I used the Studio Light Heart Pattern Mask (SL-ES-MASK175) creating a watercolor rainbow with Distress Inks and using the amazing Studio Light mini ink blending brushes to go over the background with a rainbow of hearts! I finished with a sentiment from the Lazy Days stamp set (BL-ES-STAMP462) and adhesive pearls by Jenine's Mindful Art (JMA).

Next, while I had those rainbow with Distress Inks on my kraft mat, I did a mop up, not worrying too much about how the inks blended. It turned out pretty funky! So I used the Heart Pattern Mask to emboss some neon pink hearts for contrast. Then I cut two sized circles and adhered them together to make a faux Minnie Mouse. 

I embossed a sentiment from the Lazy Days stamp set (BL-ES-STAMP462) over it and added a polka dot bow. To add to the grunginess, I stamped the Dots Background stamp (SL-ES-STAMP370) randomly along the edges then splashed with watery gesso. FUN!

For this fun tag, I used the adorable new Flip Flops (Octopus) stamp (BL-ES-STAMP460) by Laurens Van Gurp for SL. I had a great time coloring him with my Zig brush markers. For my background I dipped an Art by Marlene mixed media tag into Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks. Then I sponged white paint through the bubbles from the Seahorse Mask (SL-ES-MASK197) and outlined them with a black pen. I sponged Squeezed Lemonade through the ABM Mask (ABM-OOTW-MASK44) for sun rays and drew some white lines with a Uniball pen. 

I mounted the octopus over some cheesecloth and added a sentiment from the Lazy Days stamp set (BL-ES-STAMP462), combined with stickers from the Essentials Sticker Book (SL-ES-STIC06). Finally I stamped the Dots Background stamp (SL-ES-STAMP370) randomly along the edges then splashed with watery gesso. I used a combination of ribbons at the top for a festive, party vibe.

This one is a favorite of mine.  I used the Seahorse Layered Mask (SL-ES-MASK197) and paired it with the Tropical stamp set (SL-ES-STAMP432) and the Lazy Days sentiment set (BL-ES-STAMP462). 

I love how the texture paste in the last layer of the stencil adds a pop of white!

I had some artsy friends over for a playday and made these sweet little treats for them using the Handbag Pillow Box die (SL-ES-CD498).  I used the Aged Wildflowers DIY Block (SL-ES-DCB45) and the Vintage Postcards DIY Block (SL-ES-MC02). The paper flowers are by JMA. 

The best part about these pillow boxes is that they can be regifted!

I snuck in some time to play with this amazingly gorgeous Script Strelitzia stamp by Jenine's Mindful Art for SL (JMA-FOF-STAMP420) and split up the pattern to make a 5x7" card. The sentiment is also from JMA Sentiments & Wishes (JMA-ES-STAMP340). I'm so glad I finally had some time to ink this beautiful stamp up! 

Here I was trying some different color combos with these fab shell stamps.  This one is from the Shell Bouquet stamp set (SL-ES-STAMP428), which comes with the most adorable bees too!  

I paired with a sentiment from the Bible Journaling stamp set by JMA (JMA-IP-STAMP278).  

For this card, I mixed up a little coastal grunge with the new Mixed Media Pad (SL-ES-MPP24). There are lots of blues and purples in this pad, but I went with the grunge! I paired with the Tropical (leaves) stamp set (SL-ES-STAMP432).

I used Studio Light's clear gloss glaze over the water and layered three of the focal elements for dimension and impact.

For this tag, I used the new Sunny Bees cutting dies (SL-ES-CD519).  I made a stencil with my castoff from die cutting and used the XL stencil tape.  

I paired the Lazy Days sentiment stamps (BL-ES-STAMP462) and the Grid Background stamp (SL-ES-STAMP371).

I enjoyed using Distress Glazes over my ink work to add some extra texture.
