Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps Christmas Cards

 

Hi friends!  I'm back to share part two of my projects for my guest designer stint with Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps this October.  For today's first project I have a pair of shaker cards made with the gorgeous new Pine stamp & die bundle.  I'm really excited about the addition of these dies and how well they add dimension.  

I created some inky backgrounds by dipping two bristol panels in watery Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap Distress Inks.  This warmed up the white just a little and left some good ink drops here and there.  Next, I used Bundled Sage, Peeled Paint and Gathered Twigs to ink each pine bough, then off stamped, then spritzed with water for very faint images in my background.

I then used my stamp platform to restamp the images in the same colors multiple times, with much less water spritzing for my focal pieces.  I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.  On the pinecones, I used a little extra ink to watercolor and fill in the images.  On the center of each of my background panels, I stamped the gorgeous hymn from the Best Gift Ever sentiment set.  Finally, I cut some square frames from kraft card to finish the shakers.  I gave each card a splash of white watery gesso and a loopy baker's twine bow.  I'll share a video on Instagram so you can see these shakers in action @sewpaperpaint.  

For my next card, I created a faux snow globe by cutting a circle from kraft card and layering over a rectangle with the top corners snipped off.  I edged the black in gold ink to help it pop.  Inside I stamped the bear from the Woodland Scene Silhouettes.  I just love him!  I added some watercolor with Black Soot Distress Ink to ground him.  I layered a sentiment from the O Holy Night set and a loopy twine bow.  

For my background, I used the incredibly cozy new Knit background stamp.  I clear embossed it onto red card, then sponged the edges with Black Soot and gave everything a splash of watery gesso.  

For my last card this month, I used one of my very favorite old sets, We Three Kings.  I embossed it on a black panel and gave it a splash of Finetec gold metallic watercolors.  These are highly pigmented watercolors.  I used Staz On to stamp the sentiment onto gold card.  For my background I used the newly released Large Snowflakes background stamp.  I embossed it in gold onto silver card, then splashed with black gesso.  I hope these cards have inspired you today.  Find more inspiration in my previous posts HERE.  xx, Autumn

Art by Marlene Crazy Bird Valentine Spinner Cards

 

Happy Valentine's Day my lovely friends and followers!  I have a few fun Valentines to share with you today featuring super fun Art by Marlene Stamps.  I made these cards during a play date with my mom and we picked the adorable owl stamp from Marlene's Back to Nature Collection Crazy Birds stamp set (ABM-BTN-STAMP147) as our focal image.  We made inky backgrounds using Marlene's Mixed Up Collection Deco Envy stamp (ABM-MUC-STAMP289) and cut windows in each panel.  Two of the cards feature heart spinner cutouts.  Two hearts were attached to a string to form a sandwich, then the string was glued and taped taut between the card panel and background (both with a heart shaped cutout opening).  The heart is spun tight and when the card opens it spins around!  You can see that in action on my Instagram page @sewpaperpaint.  

I did a blue version with a circle cutout, which I turned into a shaker.  The little bunting comes from Marlene's Zig Zag Journal cutting dies (ABM-MUC-CD417).  The friendship and be mine stamps were old in my stash.  I used Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers, Chipped Sapphire and Blueprint Sketch for this card.

And I used Distress Ink in Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves and Shaded Lilac (Oxide) for this one and the first and my brush markers for detail work on coloring the owls.  I hope these cards inspire you today!  Happy Valentine's my friends!  xx, Autumn

Coffee Loving Elf Tim Holtz Retro Poinsettia Shaker Card

Happy hopping coffee lovers!  I forgot to schedule my posts over the weekend while we were away, but have a few more cards to share with you for the Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.   I couldn't help but make two cards while I was playing with my crafty pal @carolinasweetlee 's Santa's Helper die.  (Which is on a very good sale right now at Scrapbook.com.)  I just picked up the Retro Repeat background die and thought the triangles could be turned to make trees. 

My panels and greenery were inked with a combination of Distress Inks and Oxides and the back of my shaker was stamped with Tim's Stripes & Holiday set.  I'm loving this year's Large Funky Festive die set.  I paired the poinsettia with some punched greenery.  I stamped the swirly border from the Ornate Trims set to add some contrast and filled the card with vintage sequins I picked up from the thrift shop.  :)  I sure do hope this card makes you smile and your week is filled with joy.  Hugs, Autumn

Tim Holtz Theories Stamp Birthday Shaker Card

My sweet friend Bonnie was my partner in crime this weekend for an hour long drive to our LSS for me to get some new Distress Oxides!  Yes, these inks are still causing a buzz and I was busting at the seams to get some new colors after my experiment with two-toned stenciling in my last post.  

I wanted super vivid colors and tested out Peacock Feathers by sponging my entire panel, then tested Blueprint Sketch by sponging the edges.  I wasn't sure what next, so I dipped the panel in Twisted Citron, Picked Raspberry and Concord Grape until I was pleased with the color variations.

Next I embossed an image from the Tim Holtz Theories stamp set and cut out a portion of the panel using the Stitched Rectangle die.  I thought I'd make a simple shaker card, but wanted to add interest to the perimeter.  I decided to emboss with the Tiny Dots Texture Fade.  I love embossing my Distress Oxide backgrounds because the ink sits upon the surface of the paper and sands away easily, unlike regular inks.  This really brightened up my design.  I added a few shaker elements and a piece of acetate recycled from packaging.  I finished it off with a Small Talk sentiment sticker and a layered die cut from the Celebrations set, which I sponged with Peacock Feathers.  I'll add a video on Instagram (@sewpaperpaint) so you can see the card in action.  :)  Thanks for visiting today!

Simon Says Stamp Stitched Florals Shaker Card

I'm having fun doing some just because stamping and decided to play along with the Simon Says Stamp 100th Flickr challenge.

I watercolored my embossed blossoms with Fossilized Amber and Twisted Citron Distress Ink, then fussy cut them and layered over a sponged and splattered panel, which I turned into a shaker.  :)  I picked up the Little Yellow Bicycle die cuts for a song at Tuesday Morning and sponged them ombre style.

For my second card, I colored my blossoms with Worn Lipstick, Tumbled Glass and Twisted Citron DI, then layered with the castoff from my shaker oval.  

I sponged the LYB die cut and added a Tim Holtz sticker and Tropical die cut.  I had the most trouble using a water reservoir pen to watercolor until I learned to squeeze it as I go.  DOH!  Now I am really getting into Distress watercoloring.  :)  On the inside of this card I will stamp a sentiment stamp that says "Merry Everything, Happy Always".  Thanks for looking today and make sure to check out my Flickr pool HERE.

Simon Says Stamp: Anything Goes

3 for 1 Verve Stamps and Darkroom Door Cards

Happy Sunday!  My fam wanted to sleep in today so we are going to late service and I had a moment to pop these cards in a post.  I took some time just to play and make some cards for some of my favorite challenges.  I woke up yesterday morning with this shaker card in my brain and got straight to work.  This fun sentiment is from the Kindness Matters stamp set.

This time I made my shaker with fun foam and glue.  They never turn out perfect, but it's fun and I'm happy with it.  :)

I layered over a Prima doily and added a 49 and Market flower.  The paper is forever old and is by Glittz.

I realized this was my last yellow paper in my stash, then I happened to find a pad for $5 at Tuesday Morning and I felt I just had to make a second card with it.  I totally love the "Use Yellow" Diva Inspiration challenge this month!  This stamp is from Scripture Medley 4.  The butterfly is from a Tim Holtz die, and the ribbon is by him too.  For the life of me I can't remember buying the label die, but it was in my stash and I was happy to find it!  LOL!

Friday I spent some time playing with a new Darkroom Door stamp for the April Facebook Challenge, Mother's Day/Feminine.  I'm not totally thrilled with this card.  It was the first thing I've made in weeks, so I guess I was feeling rusty.  Anyway, I love the stamp (Henry and Harriet) and need to use it on a smooth paper next time.

I got these fabric doilies on clearance at Michael's when I was in Columbia with Sara Emily.  I loooooove them!

I embossed this dainty sentiment by Penny Black in gold and paired with Tim's word stickers.

The flower is handmade with a center of Art Stones and the leaves are Tim's too.  And I happily found this pack of vintage seam binding for 10 cents when I went to NC to buy my daughter's prom dress.  There's an awesome thrift shop along the way!  Score!  :)  Well, that's it for me.  Have a great Sunday friends!
