Dark and Moody Fall Thank You Card

I apologize for the delay in sharing the remainder of my cards from my Dark and Moody Background Tutorial at Stamps & Stencils.   This time of year, with getting the kids settled back in school, is extremely busy and I'm doing my best to keep up.  Please bear with me.  :)  As always, I appreciate your visits & comments.

I have fallen in love with these cutouts by Heidi Swap, found at Joann's.  I love the lacy element they add to the dark backgrounds.  Here I stamped Blazing Poppies by IndigoBlu for my base.  I layered with Finnabair butterflies, a thank you banner, a coordinating Prima flower, and vintage seam binding.  I tucked some real lace in between my layers.

Your "dark and moody" backgrounds are incredible, Autumn! Just think of all the different ways they could be featured, and made "dark" or "full of light" - either way! You have such a way with colors and textures. Thanks for sharing! hugs, de (who is in love with your card)

Autumn, your dark and moody background is stunning! I love those cut out flowers too, it would be such a shame to cover up the background and those flowers just let it sing. Absolutely gorgeous! Hugs, Anne xx

What a beautiful atmospheric background, and you're right about the lovely lacy cut-out over the darker shadowy areas.

This is so lovely, Autumn! It reminds me of lichen after the rain...one of my favorite things. Those spattered metallic sprays really make everything pop. The sweet little butterflies and pretty ribbon cluster keep it from feeling too dark and moody. Gorgeous work...but then yours always is! Thanks for sharing with us at the Really Reasonable Ribbon "things with wings" challenge!
