Lynne Perrella PaperArtsy Mixed Media Mini Album Pages

I must admit I was thrown with what to create for the current PaperArtsy topic, Doors, Windows and Architecture.  I have a limited collection of Lynne Perrella stamps and one floral PA set and no more.  Hmmm...  So I dug through the stamp bin remembering finding a door stamp in my mom's amazing stamp stash.  I found this favorite LP stamp too and thought I should definitely use her, but thought the two stamps would work together well, so off I went.

At my job, the lovely ladies save these notebook backs for my art projects.  I had a stack about 5" high.  They are all identical in size.  I decided it would be great to start a mini album to house all of my pages.  More on that in a future post...

Update: Find the album tutorial HERE.

I applied clear gesso to my chipboard because I wanted the brown to show through.  I colored my background with a variety of Infusions, then added texture paste through a new Tim Holtz stencil.  While it was still wet, I spritzed water over the paste and sprinkled on more Infusions.  I tried dabbing with a paint brush to ensure coverage and that worked well.

Still wanting to experiment with the tissue stamping technique from my post HERE, based on THIS PA video, off I went.  I stamped my image onto tissue with Archival Jet Black ink and tore the edges.  I carefully painted the reverse of my stamped image onto the tissue.  Then I adhered with Mod Podge, even over the textured background, what a cool effect!  I used more Infusions to paint along the edges of my tissue to blend it in with the background.

I dipped my completed project in Distress Oxide to get some chalky spots.  I gave everything a splash of watery white gesso.  I used Tim's new Chit Chat chipboard for my sentiment.  I edged each panel in gold embossing to create a border against my black book pages.  I went back to the image and rubbed a Galaxy white marker along the edges to create highlights and pop the image out from the background.  I tinted her cheeks with a tiny dab of watercolor.

For my next page I first added my painted tissue onto my Infusions background, then went back in with the stencil and texture paste.

The flower is handmade from my tutorial HERE.  The key is from my mom's stash.

I mixed Art Stones with Mod Podge then blended in Infusions to tint the stones and applied to the bottom to create a walkway to the door.  All of this was incredibly fun!  A little on the dark side yes, but fun fun!  I cannot wait to show you the mini album assembly and find out what Topic #5 will be!  It will be so exciting to fill the album with my challenge projects.  <3

Took my breath away, Autumn! My, what beauty comes from your fingertips! I am in love with that door image and the gorgeous stenciling. And a little bit of dark is good; it makes the bright that much brighter! Getting goofy; got wet way too many times today! Sending hugs!

I have to admit I wasn't a huge fan of the LP stamps at first, but you've totally turned me around with what you've done with them. I love both of these pages so much and will be watching the video links you added - thank you for those! Everything about these are awesome - your mom's stamp was just perfect for how you finished it. I love the darkness of them and the gold embossing really sets them off. Is there anything you can't do, Autumn? Hugs!
