Hi friends! I'm thrilled to bits to have had the chance to make some Christmas projects for the Tim Holtz 2018 Sizzix Christmas release video. Tim shared the video on his blog post HERE. This is such an amazing collection of beautiful and festive dies. Take a look...
For the Flurry 2 Snowflake I thought the die itself was so beautiful wanted to use the reverse side of the die for wet embossing to create a nice shadow around my cut out.
To start, I added a small piece of foam tape to the right side of the Flurry 2 die. This was to help me hold the die while covering the back side with VersaMark embossing ink.
I ripped off two strips of washi tape and adhered the die wrong side down to my card panel. I removed the foam tape once the die was secured and ran through my machine.
This is the impression left by reversing the die. The ink transferred to the panel (along with other bits I should have taken care to clean off of my plates beforehand...)
I embossed the impression in white. Then I sponged on Evergreen Bough and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks for a resist. I splashed the panel with water and lifted some of the ink. I gave it a splash of watery gesso. I stitched along the edge of the panel and then adhered the center of a second Flurry 2 die cut from black cardstock.
I used Tim's Holiday Words at the bottom for my sentiment, backing the panel with black cardstock.
I let the edges of the snowflake remain loose. I love the impact this shadow embossing gives! I went back in along the edges of the panel and stamped Tim's Flurry and Pine in black and layered with some of Tim's Christmas Paper Stash. A simple silver floss bow finishes the design. Are your wheels turning with dies you want to emboss?! I certainly hope so! Make sure to check out the entire September Christmas Release HERE.
And here's the photo Sizzix shared on the Tim Holtz Project Inspiration Page HERE. Thanks so much for joining me today and happy crafting!

What a fabulous technique Autumn which has resulted in a brilliant card. Congrats on being part of Tim’s new release lineup and having your card in his video xxx
Congrats on designing cards for Tim for this holiday season!!! Love this beautiful snowflake card and how you cleverly used the reverse to create an impression for a shadow - great results and I might give that a try! My travels are now done for the year and I hope to keep up with what's going on now... Hope all is well with you - hugs, my friend!!
Autumn, you pulled out your creative genius on this card, with the double embossing with this snowflake. I've been researching how to pressure emboss with a die, but you have taken it up a notch by wet embossing, too! Love this beautiful design, and biggest congratulations to you for being one of Tim's Christmas release designers and being featured on the Sizzix website. I'm soooo proud of you! Sending hugs!
Genius! Absolutely incredibly genius!
Absolutely stunning Autumn, and huge congratulations - you really do the most wonderful creations with Tim's products and this is no exception. Love how you used the gorgeous snowflake die - very inspiring! When I first got this die I could not believe how intricate it is and yet it cuts so easily! Hugs, Anne xxx
Your card is beautiful! I love the way you embossed with the die! Did you use any special 'sandwich' in your die cut machine?
Just gorgeous! I love everything you do!
So very beautiful, dear Autumn,- had to try the embossing idea, and it comes out beautiful, even not as tidy as yours, have to try again ,lol.

I just love this idea Autumn! Definitely a must try that is added to my idea book as I write this! Gorgeous card and congratulations on being a part of this wonderful release, a well deserved honor! xx
this is a fabulous idea!!! I love it. =)
Gorgeous card Autumn. This is just perfection, beautiful colours and loving the technique you've used for the sentiment. I've seen something similar with a die called reverse embossing. The technique was done with a more solid die which gives a flatter base with less detail then the die cut piece was placed over it. It's a great idea. Have a great creative week, Angela xXx
Autum, this card is beautiful. I just found your blog and I can't wait to dive in. Have a great day.
