Mixed Media Triptych Tag for 12 Tags of Christmas

tag 1

I hope you all had a very merry Christmas and appreciate the kind comments and wishes from you.  I finally finished my twelfth tag for The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas challenge and I am quite relieved, just in the nick of time!  For my final tag, I decided to create a triptych rather than do a side fold like Linda did because all along I couldn't wait to line my tags all up and photograph them!  Ha!  So I wanted the size on this one to be the same as the others.  (Thanks for the idea, Sara Emily! ;0)

tag 2

I decided to go for neutral since the Christmas season is winding down.  I used layers of DI and a crackle stamp for my background, with a spritz of glimmer mist.  I loved Linda's plaid, but was in the mood for dots, so I used a new stencil and dropped gold EP into the wet paste to create this texture.

tag 3

I used Tim Holtz' Tattered Poinsettia in a new way, which I was very pleased with.  I scored each distressed petal.  The cardboard and dies are all dripping with puff paint snow.

tag 4

I decided to stamp a scene inside and used a mix of Stampendous and SU! stamps for the silhouettes.  The flourish is Penny Black and the poinsettia is a great find on a recent adventure out into the country to a forgotten about stamp shop.  JOY!  It is by Judith.

tag 5

The sentiment banner is from Verve over a MFT doily.

tag 6

Sorry that the details are lacking, do ask any questions.  I'm so tired today...

tag 8

I'm ever so pleased with this tag and will be creating these triptych tags again soon!  Thanks so much to Linda for the challenge and win or lose, I'm sure we all have completed our wish lists from her lovely shop, The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  Mine is getting longer with each tag added to the linky.  So much inspiration!!!  I'll leave you with my favorites from my 12 Tags of Christmas 2015.

Wow! It's great to see all your fabulous tags lined up like this, but I truly think you saved the best for last. I really think this last one, in the neutral tones, with all the gorgeous texture is the prettiest of all of them. I liked your idea of the triptych too. The scored petals of the poinsettia created so much additional interest & dimension. I wonder if you went to The Mercantile on your trip to the country? That's a fun shop to visit, with lovely owners. Glad you were able to have a wonderful Christmas. Hugs & TFS

I had such fun with you and Char while we made Christmas tags! All of your tags are so beautiful in person! I have 4 of my own done now and took Claudia her tag banner on Christmas eve along with earrings that I made for her. We had a great time together!

I so love the gorgeous flower on the first tag, beautifully shabby and then to reveal the inside with the silhouette stamps so striking against the beautiful background. It all cumulates to something so beautiful.

Your textures and patterns were unified beautifully through your subdued, but very elegant, color scheme. I especially love the way it reveals the blessed the Nativity Scene when you open the tag to reveal the triptych. Blessings!

Autumn, every single one of your tags exudes the love of crafting you have, and they are made with such care and skill. I love this one in particular for many reasons...the neutrality, the poinsettia (one of my favorite flowers), the verses, and the thought that you put into it. Absolutely lovely in every way! Your compilation of tags is truly amazing; wish I had done that, but they are all in someone else's pile of Christmas cards, mostly sent out as soon as I made each one.

Thank you for your sweet shout out, and am happy I inspired you in some small way. I really hope you are one of the lucky winners! I think we all won...challenging ourselves with new techniques and of course there's that coupon to use at Linda's shop! Have a great day! Hugs!

This is gorgeous and so luscious! Awesome sauce design and use of the poinsettia die, what a neat idea to score the petals! Rich textures abound in this stunning tag! The fact that it opens makes it even better! Hope your Christmas was fantastic! Hugz. ~Niki
