We have another inspiring challenge for you at
Anything But Cute! Our hostess
Niki has chosen the theme Rustic Glam. She says, "Create a mixed media design featuring rustic elements such as whitewashed wood, chicken wire, burlap, soft subtle tones and neutrals. Don't forget to add the GLAM part with some sparkle and BLING!"
I decided to make a little collage to frame and began by gessoing and stenciling some chipboard with a Tim Holtz stencil. I used Lindy's sprays to color my panel. I added some subtle stamping, splashes and gold embossing along the edges.
I used clear gesso over some flat purchased flowers, then gave them a light spray of the same inks and bunched them up roughly to tuck between my layers.
A great tip when you're doing a paper bundle like this is to arrange all of your layers and then staple them together so you can still tuck things in the open ends.
I added this Verve scripture stamp in gold as my focal point.
I've had this frame for ages and painted it grey, then distressed it to reveal the wood underneath. It's quite thick and is perfect to create a shadow box effect.
I mixed some mod podge with some vintage glitter and sequins and brushed that on randomly. I added some bits of crocheted lace here and there, as well as some pearls for the glam factor.
The colors aren't very lively, but are much nicer in person.
I hope you will be inspired to play along with our challenge this month. We cannot wait to see your entries!
